I agree that there HAS to be a reason why the entire back hasn't yet been shown.

Please, please have a built-in EVF. Ideally NEX-7 quality...

It would seem an odd design decision to put the flash in a penta hump with nothing at the rear. Otherwise why have the hump at all? The flash could have been designed similarly to the Q otherwise and thereby achieved a smaller form factor.

Of course, but to a point.
I already have good focus hit rates using my K5 with LV and a hood-loupe.
But, if you notice, the DSLR implementation is really clunky with the mirror having to go down and then up again for taking a shot.
Totally unusable for anything that moves.
It probably has to to with the mirror/shutter mechanism which won't be solved via firmware and will need a re-design of the mechanism to work otherwise (if possible)
Well, what I meant was that you can just lock up the mirror like you normally do in LiveView mode and then there should be no difference between this K-01 and a DSLR.

The actual difference is far less than 26.5%. Most of the extra box volume of the Ds comes from the viewfinder hump that makes it taller and the hand grip which curls outwards toward the front. The K-01 is not much different in actual size and volume from the Ds.
Yes, but those bumps may be just what makes it impossible to put the camera in the small bag...

Well 6 FPS is a sad statement considering the K-5 can do 7 FPS.. But if it can do 6 FPS until the SD card is full (or at least 60 frames) then you have a winner! Lack of TAv mode is disappointing as well, of all non-M modes, that's the one I actually DO use.
6 frames/sec * aprox. 20MB/frame = 120MB/sec. No SD card can write that fast (even assuming the camera does nothing else than writing to the card).
60 frames * aprox 20MB/frame = 1200MB. ~1.5GB internal memory in an entry level camera?

People are mistakenly confusing the K-01 for a high end camera. Well, it isn't.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the K-r's replacement having more or less the same internals as this.

About the "flash hump" - the solution seems OK (even if not very pretty); I think it's preferable to the Q flash mechanism which looks too flimsy. Unlike with the current DSLRs, it won't extend past the mount; maybe they'll be able to retain this in their DSLRs.

To be safe, recommend not opening the PRweblink!
Indeed - Google Safe Browsing says it has found a lot of bad things there in the recent past:

That's why this hacked up frankenstein mirrorless SLR is so disappointing.

Except for that (edit : I mean shutter ) down lag (drives me nuts)

Shutter goes down, then up again in K5 LV, too slow.

When did refinement and technological advancement become "hacked up frankenstein" ?? Less moving parts can only be a better thing. IMHO.

I thought the K-01 was the K-r replacement. I mean what else could it be?
It certainly does not replace the K-5. Plus the K-r is gone.

Well, on my 7D I push a button and it stays in liveview until I push the button again. I presume the K-5 for instance works the same.

So you can leave a DSLR in liveview mode and you have the same as this K-01 thing. Just saying that since the size is not really any advantage on this camera, I fail to see ANYTHING it would offer over a real DSLR version of the same thing.

Sure, you can take the wheels off a car too but that doesn't make it more useful nor refined.

I got Q for 499.95US$ through eBay yesterday....with a prime lens. How much lower you want from it?
I think Pentax should pay ME a couple of hundreds to take one.
