I'm mostly interested in the size vs K-x:

K-x: 123 x 92 x 68 mm, 580g
K-01: 121 x 79 x 59 mm, 560g

Lookin' good! And probably not as lumpy.
If you check a K-X you will find that it is close to 59mm from mount to back of LCD, so what has been done on K-01 is redesigning parts on the front of a DSLR that stick out further than the mount (grip and flash).

So to me K-01 looks like a Pentax DSLR with mirror and OVF removed, smaller grip and a flash like on Q.

Same, but I want WR as well. An entry level MILC that has WR to coordinate with the WR lenses of Pentax, gives a whole mean meaning to different.

The smaller dimensions and the 1/4000s shutter speed may point to a shutterless camera. Let's not forget that our DSLR's still use mechanical shutters which take up space. So if they could make the K-01 smaller by removing the shutter it makes perfect sense.

haha, someone has just registered pentaxk01.com domain today
Best of luck to them. Monetizing such specific (and time limited) domain names ain't always easy. Even leaving out the trademark issues.

David, look closer ...

The person owning the domain is Mikael (pentaxeros) from Spain, who is known as the Spanish distributor for Spain. So, he is a person who beds the rumor to be true, but he's not from Pentax and probably isn't in the know.

I for one am looking forward to it and hope the rumors are true.
I'm excited for a milc that natively supports our k-mount lenses.
If the weight and dimensions rumours are true, it may be a modified/crippled k-mount, or a mirrorless k-mount.

The stated inclusion of a new DA 40 also says something.

If the flange distance is not kept to the K-mount identity exactly, a huge slew of legacy glass will not focus properly and not to infinity.

Unless you get an adapter, probably for SDM lenses, screw drive, etc.

Hard to tell if this is a sidebar evolution of the K-mount. I suspect if it is NOT, then the issue will be the size of the body being larger than NEX/m43, etc.

If it IS a modified K-mount requiring new lenses for many FL's, the issue will be one of it being a bastard child, and really a new mount in all but name.

I do find it a bit disturbing that it's not going to be much thinner than my K7, but everything else sounds good to me, apart from the name 'K-01', which I hope is just a working name like the NC-1....

I hope it's so beautifully designed that even the black and yellow option looks good!

I found it with common searching engine of google. It's public data.
