Interesting, it weights almost twice less than original DA 40 Lens - which is good. It also seems to be significantly shorter. The only way I see them reduce the length is to make front lens leveled with the front of the lens barrel. Along with 27mm filter it hints that design will be... unusual.

Maybe plastic build with a plastic mount as well to keep the weight down?

For current users yes, but this camera is going to comsume far more power than the K-5/7 due to fact that it uses the same sensor but has no viewfinder - the rear LCD will be in constant use. Maybe they can make it more energy efficient using the different electrical components....

But either way I'm not sure battery life is going to be a strength.

NO OVF or EVF. Only 3" LCD like in K-5.
This doesn't sound good at all - I can't believe they didn't find room for an EVF in such a big MILC camera

A P&S with K-mount, K-5 sensor and some other nice things.

Doesnt sound to bad... it's for Pentaxians clearly
And we have more choices, K-5 or its smaller counterpart (K-01), or the coming K-r replacement.

Wich ever you choose, theres is still a K-mount on all of them, wich, in the end is our strongest asset.

I can see myself going K-01 just for APS-C and shot film with the same lenses and wait for an FF digital that will take the same lenses

Like Adam had said Pentax it looks like is going to compete with lower priced body and lenses and being backwards compatible. It will also have SR. Will this make up for the bulkier body and lack of VF?

Now, the big question is, did they improve CDAF speed over the K-5, if not it will be sluggish againts mirrorless competition.

I don't know whether it could compete in price with NEX-5 though, which is much smaller but doesn't have many small lens options. Samsung NX200 however for me would still be a better package with many nice small lenses and great price (They will also release an NX-20 with VF soon).

These are all just assumptions based on rumors for another day anyways....but, even with htis, i am glad Pentax is venturing into this, as in the next generation for sure will have a VF and improived AF and still be compatible with all lenses (will be a powerhouse then).

Just curious, but why not make a carbon fiber inspired grip? It is light weight, incredibly strong and incredibly durable. Expensive- yes... But also pleasing to the eyes.
Pleasing to the eyes, that is open for debate. I think it's ugly, especially when it's used where it has absolutely no other function then looks.

I just wish Pentax could decide on a consistent naming scheme/succession...

K100D/K110D/K100DS > K200D/K-m > K-x > K-r
K10D > K20D
K-7 > K-5

Now comes the K-01... Meaning that they wont be able to continue the K-7/K-5 line to the logical K-1 conclusion without getting even more confusing that it already is...

They should have called it the KEv01 or something similar IMHO.

IMO more like this:

K100D/K110D/K100DS > K-m > K-x > K-r
K200D (<-- middle camera line abandonned)
K10D > K20D > K-7 > K-5

K01 is a different line IMO, nothing prevents from a K1 FF dslr.

In any case, it is not as if Pentax naming scheme made any sense at all (but a few exceptions).
Z20+Z50=Z70 was a funny one.. NOT

Not being able to decide between letters or numbers has been a hallmark of the K series since its start - with the K2, KM and KX in 1975 :-) (And then in 1976 they introduced both the K1000 and the M-series, which again used only letters - except for one model, the MV-1)

Well, a friend of a friend who's roommate knows a guys told me it wouldn't need an EVF/OVF because there will be a groundbreaking, first of it's kind, accessory wireless monocle.
