Originally posted by Clavius This is the very first time I've ever thought about changing brands. Pentax is replacing models by stripped down versions. KR went out and gets replaced by... this?? I'm afraid for their announcement in the higher-end category.
The only positve thing about this, is that they're keeping the K-mount... For now, that is. Because if they're stupid enough to get rid of the OVF, then what's keeping them from getting rid of K-mount in a few years?
Geez, you're choking on your own paranoia. What proof is there that the K-r won't be replaced? I don't see a mirrorless camera as a replacement of the K-r. I believe the K-r will be replaced, as will the K-5, and they will introduce new line above the K-5. This is what I take from the Ricoh Pentax UK GM interview, where he called a K-r replacement "inevitable", and stated they need four DLSR's to compete with Canikon.
Q Is there a K-r replacement on it's way?
A While I do not know timelines, it is inevitable that a camera company would introduce a replacement for a product that is profitable and selling well. We Interview Pentax UK GM Jonathan Martin
It would be hard to find a word stronger than "inevitable" without flat out making the announcement.
