Foxconn still makes the iPhones and I think both do the iPads. They buy from wherever they can get the cheapest labour in China and vicinity. Just like (almost) everyone else. You guys should stop sipping the Kool-aid.
I kept quiet earlier but now you're starting to appear blinded by a dislike of Apple. You previously wrote "Apple are not now and have never been a computer manufacturer." That's inaccurate hyperbole. They used to do their own manufacturing. And today, even if Apple doesn't personally assemble their products, they are still a valid computer company.

For what it's worth, I don't currently own any Apple computers because I prefer building my own and I currently work in a Windows-centric industry, but I used to do software for education customers and picked up a lot of Mac experience.

As far as this rumored Pentax mirrorless, I hope Pentax still gives us an option for all-black cameras after hiring their designer du jour. I don't care if Pentax adds silver, white, etc. as long as they continue to sell an all-black version. My camera is a tool not a fashion accessory

Maybe THIS one is a fashion accessory, that doesn't mean others camera from Pentax will not be just tools.

Allow me to respectfully disagree here ... but I feel that if you specifically want a camera to be all black, then it's just as much a "fashion accessory" for you as it is for the person who wants some color in theirs. It just so happens that your camera fashion sense is more in line with what's currently accepted as the traditional color for cameras.
But then again, hey, cameras have always been all black right?

Did she at least reveal how long the wait may be?

I had a Renault 12 and had the same sort of good times with it. Fun fact: the Australian model had a 1/4 inch steel skid pan along the underside of the motor, which made the Renault 12 great for off-roading

Back on topic (barely) - since the designer Newson is an Aussie, maybe he also once drove one of these.

Quite late to the game... I know. But can I pose a perhaps stupid question?

If I have 'LV' button on my D-SLR, why would I want a Mirrorless K-Mount body camera presumably similar in form factor to the K-5? I'd be losing more than I think I gain.

Not stupid at all. A very compelling argument.

The Unagi model doesn't have RAW mode. ;-)

As autumnbringer alluded to above, black is for those who want to look the part . 50 years ago Yashica RFs and TLRs were silver beasts, but were later released in all black to accommodate the fashion and appearance concious togs .

I'm no fan of EVF, but I think it's much better than having to hold the camera away from you to see what you shoot. The back screen is nice on a tripod, not for hand held shooting.

But the main point of removing the OVF is to save money, and presumably sell the camera cheaper, not to make it better. (Better would be a hybrid VF.)

I hope the rumors are missing some crucial aspects that can make this camera design interesting. Barring that, it should at least look good. Maybe that's where Marc Newson comes into play!

+ compatibility and only mirrorless company committed to protect investments into lenses.
Not "only". Sony provides that already with their SLTs. I guess you probably don't consider them mirrorless, but they are mirrorless if by mirror you mean an SLR one. Even leaving such semantics aside, what technical advantage can a mirrorless K camera provide over a Sony SLT one? To create a K mount mirrorless camera just for the sake of creating one doesn't represent any kind of achievement.

But with an approach like the K01, the mirrorless and mirrored (EVF and OVF) lines can coexist for a very long time with a single pool of lenses which is the best thing OVF believers could have hoped for.
Assuming that the company can afford to play this game for a very long time.

I forgot about that brand until you mentioned it. Thanks for resurrecting some memories!

An EVF is better than an OVF in many ways. It's also worse in others. There is no "best" here.

Should I keep my DA Ltd. for coming K-mount MILC?
Will the new MILC support AF for DA lenses without built motor?

That is why co-existence makes a lot of sense.

If a EVF would make a OVF obsolete, then it would have already happened. LV and OVF have been living together in single bodies even, and it still hasn't made the OVF obsolete. (Because a EVF is LV on a tiny screen, not more.)

I wouldn't mind a camera with a viewfinder that can optionally display the EVF. One that can switch between OVF and mirror-up for EVF.
