The goal is for EVF to do that even better.
I believe pentax is not the right company to develop EVF, they buy what they can get.

"Making the display lighter and darker" - an annoying, imprecise alternative to the old exposure bar? It seems EVF is all about worse alternatives to perfectly working technologies

"It can magnify the view to show individual pixels" - slow but necessary for accurate focus. Can you do it and keep composing, in the same time?

"An EVF should be closer to WYSIWYG than an OVF" - only if the EVF is accurately calibrated, and you aren't surpassing it's limitations. Even so, in a way you're letting the camera deciding what the end result should looks like and showing that to you.

I love the outlook of my old used Pentax K2 with brass coming visible in the most handled corners and edges, I even suggested ones to a designer from Nokia, why couldn't they make similar covers to mobile phones.
Brass or gold plated plastic with a black painting which will come off quite soon in the edges and corners, that would look professional according to my taste
Todays plastic covered cameras become looking ugly polished plastic, not looking old and used nicely.
Hi Markku...i had the same old 'battlemarks' on my old black MX's edges
I didn't have any problems with it, actually it made me feel like some 'old photographic sea wolf' . You can always send me your camera and I will make it look very old and very used in an instance - just kidding...

Yes.

It's well-known classical classification of lens speed:
Superfast till f/1.2 (included) (for normal lenses)
Fast - from f/1.4 till f/2.8 (for normal lenses)
Above f2.8 is not fast (for normal lenses).

For different focal range could be used different classification of lens speed.
It's one of classification of lens focal range:

Ultra-Wide - from 8 till 24 mm
Wide - from 25 till 35 mm
Normal - from 36 till 70 mm
Short telephoto, normal telephoto extreme telephoto - from 70 mm and above...

For 35 mm lenses - f1.4 is SUPERFAST lens
f/2-f/2.8 are fast

et.c.

For 200 mm lens - f/1.8 is SUPERFAST, f2.8 is FAST
For 300 mm lens - f2.8 is FAST
For 400 mm lens - f/2.8 and f4 are FAST.
For 600 mm lens - f/4 is FAST

For ZOOM lenses - f2.8 is FAST

Hmmm...We talk about DA35/2.4...Why should I say about Q or 645?

I'm very excited for the release of this camera, and its really coming at a great time for me. I've never purchased a D-SLR camera yet. Ive been lugging my 35mm Pentax MX around the world with me for way too long now. After paying an arm and a leg to develop 10 rolls of film recently, I have given up on film, permanently. Also, I think the airport x-rays messed up the rolls, even with my lead-lined film bags.

Ive always been looking for D-SLR's, but have always wanted to stick with Pentax bodies because of my K-Mount lens collection (Pentax SMC 1.4 50mm, Pentax SMC 2.8 28mm, Asahi Takumar 2.5 135mm, Vivitar 2.8-4.0 70-210mm). I'm willing to deal with using manual lenses on auto-enabled bodies, as long as they work together and produce stunning photos. Its definitely been hard for me to justify spending close to a grand on a K-5 body. Photography isn't my profession, and there are plenty of great cameras to buy for $500.

Honestly, I get excellent photos from my Canon Powershot SD500 (7.1 mp) Point & Shoot, but it can never replace a lens & body setup. Ive been really interested in mirror less bodies since they started coming out, particularly the Sony Nex. I like the smaller layout, with the ability to change lenses. I especially love the fact that this K-01 will have a built in flash, which isn't on the K-5. There's nothing I hate more than a big bulky flash taking up space in my camera bag, especially when I'm away. I know they have their purpose, but its too infrequent for me to buy & carry a new one.

Last week, I sold most of my film stuff on eBay, making good money on everything (better than I thought I would get!). Extra bodies, lenses, flashes, filters, housings, winders.....etc. I was gonna use this to buy the K-5 body anyway, even though it isn't what I was exactly looking for. Than i found out about the release of the K-01. I think that this K-01 is exactly what I'm looking for. It'll be cheaper than the K-5, smaller, has a flash & a K-mount. The only negative I have with this camera is not having a viewfinder. Maybe there can be an add-on to the hot shoe? I will actually use it more often, than just pulling out my Point & Shoot Canon.

Any assumptions on how much it'll sell for? How long after these things are launched until they reach the shelves?

I expect the K-01 to sell for around the same as the current price on the K-5, but no one knows yet.

The K-5 will be more like your SLR in operation and controls. The K-01 will be more like your digital point & shoot. Both will allow much better high ISO performance than you are acccustomed to. Be sure to read reviews on both to see the tradeoffs, especially due to auto-focus.

This is a serious question.

Will Falk or someone please explain to me why mounting a 52mm diameter lens on a pack of cigarettes is so exciting? And then holding it steady at arms' length?

I mean, I think an MX is too small for my hands.

Unless you have some aversion to buying used, the older DSLRs are still good too. Without checking I would guess maybe the K10 is currently the newest/most high end body that's really cheap (as these things go).

Very good question that I don't know the answer to.
