His (the designer) car sort of look like a car drawn by a child. No details, just the basics needed for a car.

And the camera is supposed to be a brick, so I'm guessing he is doing the same thing here.
It will look like a camera drawn by a child. A box/brick, lens in the middle, a couple of dials with as little details as possible. The whole thing might be confused with a toy carved in wood. It will not be a hit, but in 10 years it will be a designers icon and bought by arty people to be a decorating piece on the shelf.

Or maybe am I extrapolating the little info we have to far now...

Sounds like a future Auto 110. Then again I thought the Q was going to take that position of being a shelf camera in ten years.

Dave
Well, all digital cameras will be shelf cameras in ten years, so that's hardly surprising.

No maybe about it, you are.

Why not look at his Qantas designs. The car was a concept. The Quantas stuff is real.

Yes, but only a few will be put on the shelf as a piece of art.

Is this the prototype

Oh, I did not quite get that but I think you are correct

It was noted that the camera could stand both vertical and horizontal. That to me means that the bayonet mount is completely at the right side of the camera. Like this (stolen from the Russian Pentaxforum )

And I mean the left picture; the right one looks too much like a Ricoh GXR

That thing looks pretty bizarre... bit of a weird brick if it looks like a brick

It' s not better, but at least we know that our lenses will work. You talk about an adapter, but seeing that in twenty more years Pentax has not been able to create extension tubes and rear converters working with AF, I have doubts that it would have been able to create a working adapter.

As for me - I don't want ANY adapter at all. So I think there are tens of thousands of Pentaxian like me....

By the way, we don't have 100% information about new K-01's mount. It seems to me - it's modified K-mount.
Speaking for myself here, even though my lenses are AF (primes), I use manual focus most of the time... so lack of AF with an adapter is not something I particularly care about. Were you going to attach a 50-135 to your K-01?

If the K-01 is a smallish, rangerfinder-inspired mirrorless body with three nice pancake primes, it will be well received.

If it is APS-C and priced at 50%-60% of the Fuji X1-Pro, then Pentax may have a genuine hit on their hands.

If it is full-frame and priced at 80%-100% of the Fuji X1-Pro, then PentaxForums is about to get a whole lot of new members.

I'm predicting a cube-shaped camera with a flip-twist screen on the top like a modern waist-level VF.

I doubt very much that it will be full frame...

Why not?

But more like one of these which doesn't even include the pancake lens DA 40

What if this K-01 replaces SDM support (via powerzoom contacts) with a new interface? Dual-drive lenses would still AF using the screw drive motor..
