exactly, - as i posted a few pages ago.

they would have to have to move the contacts if they are planning to recess lenses very deep inside the camera.
Why couldn't a lens be recessed into the body with the contacts remaining where they are?

Pentax Russia just got press release - the body is in three basic colours...

Said " the camera is unlike something else..."

Absolutely Different Body

The one part of press release contains the interview with designer...

Some of us question whether that can be done for a reasonable cost. Also, the new mount would presumably require new lenses and mean no new K-mount lenses. So it seems like you've gone to a lot of trouble to court existing Pentax users, without really making them happy.

I don't believe this is possible. You could probably have an adapter that would not have auto focus capability and just transmitted lens data for one hundred-ish dollars, but add more functionality and price goes up.

Sony's NEX to alpha adapter sells for significantly above 300 dollars a unit. How would Pentax be able to sell something similar for less?

I just don't think the market for old lenses is that great for most people (except for forum goers like us).

The 18-135 also uses an in-body motor only and has no screw drive.
The DA*60-250 is only SDM and has no screw drive.

The 60-250 has both SDM and screw-drive.

I stand on no side of the fence, but again ... this is not true.

A (basically) 1:1 adapter is nothing but a macro extension tube or a TC converter w/o glass. E.g., the Tamron SDM/screw drive 1.4x adapter sold for about $100 and most of the price is for the optics embeded. A K mount "registration distance adapter" with full functionality would sell for well below $100.

The Sony adapter has an entire phase AF module, half transparent mirror, processor and maybe even a focus motor (I don't know if A mount has support for an in-body focus motor, the E mount certainly has not). It's an entirely different beast with a very specific target user group in mind.

FWIW, there is a motor in the LA-EA2 (the adapter that allow the NEX bodies to AF with A-mount lenses). I've used one with a NEX-5N and both the Sony 85/1.4 and 135/1.8 (both screw-driven lenses) and it works pretty well.
