Hmmm, perhaps he designed it with a waist level electronic viewfinder, like Rolleiflex?
Indeed, it was said that there was no "eyelevel viewfinder". Also no EVF.

Now, it's exactly 60 years ago that Asahi's first SLR was shown to light (in 1952). What if they did something with the Asahiflex idea of a WLF? So the LCD on top, with a foldable finder.

Well, if it's going to be "semi professional" it simply cannot just have a non-movable back LCD as it's only viewfinder device. There's nothing less professional than having to compose all your pictures with your arms stretched. But if there really is no eye-level EVF... what then? Is there a different solution...?
Less than 24 hours we will know the answers to our questions. Now is the Pentax Forum servers going to be able to handle all the traffic?

I had something like that in mind, but almost didn't dare to write it. Hmm... that's very intriguing! Maybe there even is no LCD on the back, just on the top. That would make it easier to make the camera thinner (especially if it actually does focus fine-adjusting with the sensor and needs some more room to move the sensor backwards )!

that would be very cool (and a nice nod to the 60th anniversary as well). some of the line drawings hint at this as well

If the K-01was designed like that, it would also explain why Pentax didn't abandon the K-mount, the extra depth of the camera being required for the top LCD. I think I could like that...

EDIT: now, where would the flash attach?

I'd love it, and would suddenly consider it cool (= practical).

+1. And the foldable finder completely solves the problem of a difficult to see LCD screen (in sunny conditions outside).

The flash? Just look at the Pentax Z-1p.

"Professional" is the result, not how far away the camera is from your eye.

Camera approximately 3-4 feet from eye:

Camera approximately 2 feet from eye

Doh... To think that I used a SFXn for 15 years...

But OTOH, looking on top of the camera, the flash would be more likely to blind the photographer, wouldn't it?

Agreed. Never understood why they stopped placing the flash on the right.
That was genius IMO.

Of course, but a professional needs to take care that (s)he doesn't end up as a cripple through the use of un-ergonomic equipment...

Great about K-01. I wait for Semi-Professional or High End Pentax DSLR. Smile
