Yes that's what I meant. I'd already corrected it but you beat me to it.

And even with the XS it will be over 600g.

Cheers

The comparison images K-01 vs K-5 make we want to buy a K-5. Now. Bit sad, that is.

From DPreview:

Not an astounding savings in size.... On the other hand, we can congratulate Pentax for making the K-5 ever so small....

And I can use my k lenses in AF without even using an adaptor. Have you seen those NEX5s with k-mount lenses AND the adaptor? It's not a pretty sight man.
Yeah, but people wanting to adapt K mount lenses is not the "target market" you referred to.

I answer my question:

Seems that XS 40 lens goes with all Pentax DSLRS. ''PENTAX KAF mount is compatible with current and past K-mount compatible cameras''

Can somebody explain me, who is the target group?
For me, K01 is a better P&S, with not so different dimensions compared to K5 and just mildly reduced price.
Can somebody explain me, when I should use K01 instead of K5? To save few mm in size ?

I will not mention design what is pure personal thing.

You shouldn't use this camera since it does not appeal to you. But there was a time when rangefinder and single lens reflex cameras worked side by side. Neither were "pocket" cameras and both had their enthusiatsic users.

I see the K-01 as an intriguing revival of the "serious range-finder" tradition and I do think that this type will appeal to many.

(Mind you: I am happy with my K-5 too and don't contemplate any changes, but the future may well be mirrorless).

I wanted to buy 40 Lim again (I used to have it), but now I will wait for XS version in local store. That size is more than awesome. Stunning.

As others have said, I see this as step up from P&S, and a gateway to the wonderful world of K-mount. I can picture this being pulled out at parties, flexibly shooting stills and video, without seeming overly intrusive. So with that in mind, I think that the face detection is actually an important feature for its intended market.

I kinda like it. The lack of an EVF doesn't bother me, but I'm disappointed by the omission of Tav mode.

New Prime M imaging engine
Native KAF2/KAF3 mount works with thousands of lenses, manual and modern alike
Design by Marc Newson (but not weather-sealed)
Exclusive, stylish design by Marc Newson
The K-01 isn't only an industry first with its SLR-compatible lens mount- it's the first of a generation of cameras which we believe will start dominating the market over the coming decades.
Furthermore, it is compatible with all Pentax SLR accessories (such as flashes, GPS units, etc.), and its new image engine should also improve the performance of the camera compared to current models, and hopefully its JPEG output as well.
For just $749, you can get the proven image quality of a $1495 DSLR in a smaller, prettier, and better-performing package, thanks to the new Prime M engine.
The K-01 will use the same charger, battery (D-LI90), adapter, and remote control as the Pentax K-5.
The K-01 unfortunately seems to have lost Sv and TAv modes, two popular modes found on higher-end Pentax DSLRs
Since it employs the Pentax K-mount, it not only supports all current DSLR Pentax lenses, but also all legacy and manual lenses - over 200 of them, if you only count Pentax glass. Open up the floor to third parties and we're looking at a camera that works with thousands of lenses

Being that my K-01 lets me use my k-mount lenses in AF without needing any adapter, I automatically have a much larger choices than the NX200 or NEX5. Want a awesome 300mm prime with AF? We got that. Want to use the DA12-24? No aperture ring, no problem! Investing into the other mirrorless cameras as a new consumer, you now say "do I want to be locked into a mount with 5 or 6 lenses available.... or go k-mount?"

Full HD 1080p video capture at 30 FPS with h.264 compression (60 FPS at 720p) features shutter speed and aperture exposure control, video autofocus control, and a built-in mono or external stereo microphone.
add a hoodman then and this could be a nice video option and my DSLR can be the serious still cam.

Still if they can drop a down and dirty clip on OVF for the 40 xs it couls be a nice street shooter as well if the 81 point af is good
