So with a K5 and a pliers your dream can come true.

The drawing looks like a redesigned GXR with a K mount

Check out the drawing on the link ... we'll soon see if the "K-01" resembles this or not ... Allez, allez ... courage et patience, J Frog

I'm all for the idea and all but those drawings make the camera seem so odd and unbalanced, hopefully the real thing will look better than what those drawings depict.

If those drawings are anything to go by then that is one damn ugly camera. How could they get that so wrong when Sony and Fuji seem to be able to get it so right.

Again: the drawings are PURE FANTASY. It's nothing like the new product.

Man, how do I get on Pentax's good side and get hook ups like this? I would love a trip out to Denver to see this. One, great excuse for a trip to Denver and shoot that place up. And two, first dibs on a new camera.
LOL, you could go to Denver i guess (and the scenery would be nice to shoot) but you wouldn't see much in this case as it's in London UK (where the designer is based)

When i was still in retail i went to a lot of things like this. mostly they are pretty dull and the food is crap. the free booze at the nighttime ones made some of them bearable (oh yeah this is in London at lunchtime - there will be booze still )

Well I'm not interested in the camera, but I'm all for getting drunk and crashing random parties around London till we find the right one.

So how is this an upgrade over a K5? Its a K5 in a retro body the same size as a Kr?... did I miss something?
My guess is that it is a K-5 without a decent viewfinder put into a designer body and sold at a high price...

It's not, it's a completely different animal. However, it has been described as falling between the K-5 & K-r.

The K-01 has been wide range of speculations on where it falls in relation to the K-5 and K-r. In a day or two we will really findout. My guess is if it doesn't have a EVF then it falls more in the K-r class and maybe even below the K-r. If it does have a EVF it will fall between the K-r and K-5. No real guess on the price. It could be $500 or $1,000 plus.

-Same 16-megapixel sensor as the excellent K-5
-K-mount and will work with most existing Pentax lenses

Well, if the rumors on these two points are correct, I think I just found a new home for my FA 35mm! (given that the price is reasonable of course)..
