He retired (which is one more reason to bring him back; he's only 60 yo, for Pete's sake!!)

I thought he was born in 1962??? That would make him only 50 (or still 49)!

I'm a bit confused by the different rumors about the DSLR being or being not announced next week, as the K-R replacement were delayed of "4 - 5 months".
I wanted to ask if there is some announce expected at the CP+ event regarding a new DSLR.

there is a rumored DSLR announcement, but i thought the KR replacement was more April time frame. I get the feeling this camera is the feature set, just add 100% OVF and PDAF and slam it in a traditional body type and add $50-$100 to the price

Yes, are there any reasons why it should be larger than the K-01 except for the prism?

which is really about the kx size just a little smaller

for some this may be too small and there will be wailing and moaning and gnashing of teeth of course.

I would love to see a higher end mirrorless as well with EVF and dual wheels so the switching back and forth wouldn't require changing how you work. that too will come though I'm sure

I think the size question really is driven by the user's intended use.

Is there a reason a FF Nikon is such a honking Alien? Is there a reasopn I can't have a dSLR format body without having to scrunch my size-10 fingers around to hold the camera (or buy a $129 Grip)? I'm no fan of smaller is better and I like OVF.

But I RE#ALLY like the K-01 for potential use as a HH VIDEO device (with excellent backup still capability).

So there

The mirror mechanism and the AF system, maybe.

Still, if the DSLR in the K-r class is far away, and it will probably have the same sensor of the K-1, if indeed at CP+ there will be a new DSLR, it should be either a very cheap one or a K-5 replacement then.
mmm...
In the latter case, to me at least, it would be nice if the body would be at least have been redesigned along the lines of the K-01 minus the chimney.

[edit] I'm thinking a digital Pentax MX...

I want to think that the K-r and K-5 replacements will be so big the shock from the K-01 will bring the industry to an awed silence....

and yeah Hirakawa should (or at least have an apprentice following his design principles) work for Pentax again!

Was told there is a replacement for Kr. Like everything in Asia it is running behind due to the difficult events this year. It isn't shipping untill May or ven June. The K-01 is not a replacement for the Kr.
thanks
