No. A mirrorless this big has to have a built-in EVF or it appears ridiculous to potential buyers.

Moreover, it has no unique selling point left over the K-r replacement launched at CP+ too.

Even the K-5 has a hot shoe EVF option, just use the HDMI port. That's not the point.

My real disappointment here is that Pentax obviously (if rumors turn out correct) refused to invest the minimum of development needed to compete with other brands. This would be new and surprising, hence my disappointment (again, if rumors turn out correct).

No, it's not just you. Doesn't look like any camera I know, but that doesn't mean much...

Hmm, I have a feeling that Adam mistakenly thought that tomorrow is 2nd February . Oh no, we should just kept it to ourselves and we could have the specs tomorrow.
He forgot that this year is a leap year maybe ?

To properly quote you, here is the big word: "Disappointment" if this K01 has no built in VF (apart from the "VF" in the rear monitor/screen).
For me, that would be the end of my search in the Pentax world for a buddy for my K5 and likely would prompt me to look somewhere else for that.

But, there is always a slim chance that it does ... we shall see in a couple of days or so.

Cheers.

There doesn't seem to be enough room for a viewfinder: The All New Pentax K-01 to be Announced at CP Plus ? Specifications and Early Mock-up
Although who knows how the camera looks on the other side.

No viewfinder = insanity.

Forget the drawings. I compared the rumored dimensions with my K-x and they are exactly what is required to combine a 3" LCD with an eye-level VF (after removing 3mm from the camera's bottom after removing the AF module from there). Moreover, the NEX7 with its EVF is smaller (and I don't mean depth here, the NEX7 is 12mm lower!) and has an equally-sized mount (diameter).

It is hard to make a conclusion from that small gif, but it does seem that it lacks the EVF.

Anyway, great fun indeed. Now when it is over, I am going reading the star wars comics.
