I didn't see the GIF...

Nobody wants to use a camera w/o EVF as a camcorder. To record the occasional video, ok, but not as a serious video camera. It would have been the EVF giving second life to K mount as a video system.
Then why are the Canon 5D MKII and 7D so popular for video? I think the question would be better as "Why would most people need an EVF for video when they have an LCD screen and HDMI out?"

What's the deciding factor that makes a lot of people go for Pentax? That's all I'm saying until Thursday. And for the record, the news post is being written as I speak
- Ergonomics
- Weather resistance
- Shake Reduction
- Metal casing and frame

Back in the day the pentaprism viewfinder was a deciding factor when I bought the *ist DS over the Canon Digital Rebel...

Now, the K-7 and K-5 were the cameras that kept me using Pentax.

I wonder if the Q's OVF will work with the K-01. Same hotshoe, after all, and same corresponding FOV as the kit lens. Then again, who wants to pay $250 for a pair of lenses and a piece of casing?

...same corresponding FOV? K-01 is 40mm, Q kit lens (8mm) is 43mm equivalent in FF terms. So what you are saying is that K-01 is FF, because 40mm on APS-C is really like 60mm FF FOV. So the K-01 MUST be FF to be equivalent in FOV to the Q's kit lens.

Pretty sure Adam has already stated the K-01 uses the same sensor as the K-5.

the Q standard prime is 47.5mm equiv - are you hinting that the k-01 sensor is larger than aps-c? (since 40mm equiv is 60mm w/ aps-c) aps-h? bah Thursday can't come soon enough ;p

You will see on the 2nd why I said that

If you ask me, the K-01 is fair competition with the Fuji X-pro.
C'mon. If this is true, then your oblique references to the K-01 being without viewfinder cannot be true. Which is it, Adam?

Seeing the 40mm mentioned as the standard kit lens did bring me to scratch my head. The APS-C 60mm is not an ideal normal lens. It's possible he is talking about another lens though, presuming there will be a few "kit" lenses upon release. That way, the 40mm will be the portrait lens instead of the normal lens.

FF MILC without integrated VF, but which works with Q's OVF? Cheap enough, it would destroy the new Fuji--and many other existent cameras.

It will be off then...I was thinking for a moment that the 43mm equivalence was to the APS-C format, but you're right, of course it isn't.

I don't see it being too hard to come up with a DIY viewfinder, though, especially for primes.

Dunno, I don't really want to pay $250 for a pair of lenses and a piece of casing...

47.5 for the Q...

FA 31mm * 1.52 = 47.12

Kit lens and the 31mm are not two words that go together, but at least it's the same equivalent.

So the user could probably use the Q finder with the 31mm.
