K-30/300???

It is reported by Photo Rumors (Update: Pentax K-30/K-300 (K-r replacement) to be announced in 4-5 months | Photo Rumors) that a new Pentax DSLR model is coming, in addition to the new K-01 mirrorless which will be announced before the CP+!

There were no further details given but it is "guessed" that the new model would be named as K-30 or K-300 and is the K-r replacement!

Just to keep score here:

We have the introduction of a separate mirrorless line with specs that are rumored to be close to a K-r. Now a replacement DSLR for the K-r is rumored. And I'm sure soon to be followed by rumors of a replacement for the K5. It's all coming together now and it all looks good to me.

And to think just a few weeks ago there was so much doom and gloom about the future of Pentax!

I think I will start a new thread: "Slow Down Pentax!"

Pentax seems to have preferred names with letters for their intro-level models- so maybe K-n or K-s would be more likely?

While such a camera will inevitably be launched this year (maybe and I'd place my bets on the first half of the year) , I think it would be too much to expect it to be launched at CP+.

I'd expect the K-r follower to be launched any time soon, since they've already discontinued the K-r.

It's funny though, how the names K-30 and K-300 keep returning - why would they return to that naming scheme?

I'd like to see K-Alpha [Numeral] for the top tier APS-C camera. Then a K-Omega [Numeral] for the entry level. Then reserve K-Prime [Numeral] for any potential FF DSLRs.

So instead of K-x, K-r, K-30... it would be KO-3, KO-4, KO-5.
So instead of K-7, K-5, K-?... it would be KA-3, KA-4, KA-5.

etc. This way, it is listed by generation and not by number and letters. This weird naming problem isn't unique to Pentax. To someone who doesn't know cameras, which is better, the 60D or the 50D? Well what about the 5D vs the 1D?
