there are a few of you here
And there does seem to be enough of a super telephoto market out there. It may also be a little less expensive since Pentax doesn't have to build in OS like everyone else which has to be a cost factor. also at f5.6 (rumoured) it's slower than the current market product which is all f 4 so smaller lighter and lower cost
Probably a $5000 price tag still though. at f4 it should still be $500 to a grand cheaper than the canikons

Birds and wildlife? No matter what lens you have on the camera, it's going to be 100mm too short.
Seriously though, something longer than 300mm is needed in the Pentax lineup. This is a good sign as long as they aren't blowing smoke in efforts to keep customers from jumping ship.

To me, the 24-75mm "DA*" or so strongly suggests a full frame camera in 2013. They would be idiots to call that lens an FA on that chart; they would be announcing something without announcing it. It's too far ahead of time, it wouldn't generate the appropriate excitement at the appropriate time.

That 50mm 'standard' as well.

I'm most excited about the "DA* zoom (~20-80mm F2.8)"

It's good to see so many people stoked about the Lens Roadmap. The discussion of what each point or range on the map means is all fine and well but I think its important to realize that roughly at the same time that it was released (hence already developed) Ricoh is saying that they are going to rehire the lens engineers/developers fired by Hoya. I would think that this could indicate that the Lens Roadmap is the LEAST that we can expect and that, probably, we'll get more than is listed on it.

I already know my lens roadmap.

I have the 15 Ltd, the 40 Ltd, the M50mm f1.7, the Siggy 70-200 f2.8, the Siggy 105 f2.8 Macro and the DA* 300mm.

My missing link is the 500mm f5.6.

BRING IT ON !!!!

I thought that as well, but then Pentax has been calling the FA 50/1.4 a "standard lens" -- referring to its "natural perspective" -- forever which is of course well and truly idiotic when you all you sell are APS-C cameras.

If his latest lens would have been the FA 77/1.8, I would have said "yes!".

If he really did the DA* 55/1.4, however, I don't want another one of those.

and 18-250 zoom

Hope we can see prototypes at CP+

Not everyone hits a home-run every time. While I have seen nothing special about the DA*55, others like it. And it does make a lot of sense as an 85mm equivalent.

How about Jun designs us a nice FA 28mm f/2 Limited? Not super-fast so it can still be small. (Super-fast is a gimmick, IMO.) The same incredible rendering as the other FA Limiteds. Aperture ring and FF coverage. That way its compatible with every camera out there that takes a K-mount adapter.

Pair it up with every new body as the standard prime. Then release that Limited body we've been wanting.

That would be close to heaven.

As the one who designed the 43mm, i'm of the mind he should never have left. Get him back and give him a raise! Also give him the creative freedom to do lenses like the 43/77mm as often as he wants.
