New Lenses?! - Pentax Re-Hiring Engineers

QuoteQuote:
Martin said Ricoh has indicated that it plans to expand Pentax's camera business and re-hire engineers that Hoya dispensed with during its tenure of Pentax's imaging division.

'We are going forward and will be a different company in a year's time - guaranteed,' claimed Martin.
So Pentax is rumored to be hiirng back the lens designers they laid off a couple of yeards ago! So what is Pentax up to? A new series of ultra compact lenses for the K-01? A line of full frame (aka 24 x 36 mm sensor size) lenses? Or??

Exciting times!

Honestly, as much as I dislike the never ending speculation about what Pentax might be up to, I'd just settle for a new lens road map. Perhaps we might actually see that.

Several of the Asian blogs have said that a 3 year lens roadmap will be unveiled when the K-01 is unveiled. That's more exciting to me than the K-01!

I expect it will be a three-lens, one-year roadmap. Seriously.

Actually with a good road map we would not need the entire rumor section since we would already know everything. What fun would that be?

I did hear the rumor of a lens roadmap coming out at CP+. I was guessing it will be a 6 month roadmap with a new roadmap at Photokina. A three year road map would be really nice and will show us the direction Pentax is heading, which could be several directions.: 1. Lenses for the mirrorless camera(s) if the K-01 can take a slightly different K-mount.
2. More APS-C lenses to fill gaps (could be high-end lenses or consumer level)
3. FF lenses (please bring back the FA* series)
4. 645D lens

So exciting times ahead.

Ironic isn't it that the lens roadmap went away when they were bought by a lens glass manufacturer.

Ironic, yes. Incredibly sad and a real signal of their intentions too.

That's understatement. It's the most promising rumor I've read in weeks!

If the rumor is correct I would also believe a three new lenses on it. I would guess it will be for this year and hopefully see a new version at Photokina this fall.

I wonder if a new 85mm f/1.4 is in the works, or are they letting Sigma run with that one?
