Well, at least there's a 645 lens to make up for it.

I love the argument that a 28-75 is not a good lens for APS-C and that the range makes no sense...

31mm is great?
43mm is great?
77mm is great?

But if I combine those three into a zoom... it is just terrible... pointless.... useless....

If Pentax could give you a 31-77mm F/1.8 LTD zoom would people bitch about how worthless the focal length/range was? Or would they be really happy and go out an take pictures with a great lens? We probably need a poll for this.

Maybe not, but they will bitch about the size and the weight

It does seem unlikely that a 'reasonable' zoom, i.e. something based in reality like a 24-75mm f2.8, would be small, light, and produce great images. If I wanted large and heavy I would've bought Canon.

I use a 17-70 for my walk around so.. a 24-75 isn't a bad range for me. It's nice to have the wider end of course, but I do have a 10-20 for that..

Then you're looking for the Tamron 28-75.. since that's 500 grams vs the 800 of the Pentax FA*28-70, the Sigma 24-70, and the 1000 grams of the Canon 24-70 EFL.

Especially the weight of a f1.8 zoom! Of course that would be an lens design feat.

If they brought us an 24-80 zoom with super IQ around 700-800grams I'd get it. What a bout a bigger aperture? like f2? If it has that range, super IQ and fast aperture, you only need one lens for most occations. It would be my perfect aps-c/ff lens!

I like 77 mm on APS-C, as that gives you a 115 mm equivalent lens in a small package. I think I like the 43 mm and 31 mm better in their full frame focal lengths, though, even though they are good lenses on APS-C.

That said, 28-75 mm wouldn't be a terrible focal length for APS-C, it just wouldn't be what i think that range was originally designed to do, which is to cover from wide to short telephoto.

BTW. Semi off topic.

Is the FA limiteds getting discontinued?

No major reseller in Sweden has the FA 43. It's only found in two stores online, lowest price is shockingly 1500$. The FA 31 is 2000$+, it used to be around 1500.

They're still on the 2012-2013 roadmap, so I guess they're still being made. I think your country's distributor does not have enough stock.

Pentax users already have plenty of slow, soft, plastic zoom lenses to chose from. Why do they want more.

Fast & sharp = big/heavy/expensive
