Really, if this had an EVF I would have already put my name down for pre-order.

Apples and Oranges. Pentax owners are used to viewfinders. The only Samsung user I know is a PnS upgrader who won't buy an additional lens, let alone spend money on an EVF.
Apples to oranges, The K-01 is not targeted to the current Pentax users, but users coming from P&S. My wife WOULD love the K-01 because she's not used to looking through a viewfinder!

Is she used to holding up more than half a kilogram with extended arms while trying to use a zoom?

The K-01 is 4-6x more mass than the average P&S yet has the same ergonomics for shooting.

An optional EVF and an articulating LCD solve this problem. Not done. Problem.

Who's going to spend $750 on a p&s? And one that's not p&s small either.
This model is one to forget as quickly as possible and it's an insult to see Pentax hand over money to some goof ball who can't design cameras.
Roll on K-r and K-5 replacements that's what we need right now

I agree, but in same time I hope this Pentax will bring some new members to Pentax family

Gotta admit - seeing that DA 300 is pretty interesting on the K-01.

You mean $900. We can't expect the P&S crowd to have their own K mount lenses, and the camera isn't very appealing to those that already have a DSLR, what with its lack of VF and slower shutter/FPS than the K-5. Granted, they will sell a few to Pentax DSLR owners who want a different video experience, but I can't see that niche being enough to justify the model. Most people will still need a lens to go with it, and those without much knowledge of the available options will just go with the kit lens.

On an aside, I'm deeply disturbed by the fact that I agree with you 100% on this.

I pre-ordered the yellow body to match my HD tripod . BTW I shoot mainly HD video and this is the ultimate camera for that with K-mount lenses.

I hereby nominate the following song as the unofficial K-01 theme song:

I wonder if I can hack it and make this the shutter sound?

At first I was put off by design. However the more I look, the more I like it and it is a very very stylish camera. Not up to everyone taste but extraordinary things never are made for mainstream. I like it.

I keep saying, "Its the VIDEO."

We have other thibngs for still - and more announcement right around the corner.

My wife actually wants one (for her birthday) to upgrade from her A40. She wants the VIDEO - and to get her shot at some of my lenses.

I think we're all missing the point - ITS THE VIDEO!!

Pentax have other things coming for still. (but they typically are missing the marketing boat and they'll let dpreview pan it before it can get going).
