It would be a very poor business decision to announce a K01 with a viewfinder in Japan. It would kill the sales of the K01 without the viewfinder.
The Nex 7 has not killed the sales of the lower models without the viewfinder, it seems.

That's just because nobody is able to buy the NEX-7 (besides, it's quite a price difference from the 5n to the 7)

Like it would be quite different the price of the K-viewfinder from the K-01.

K-01 - lower K-r. K-300 - above K-r. K-3 - above K-5.

I think in such way...

by the time you buy the EVF for the nex 5 it's not that substantial for what is in many ways a better camera
OTOH if there is a EVF K mount mirrorless that sells for $1300 it's a big bump from the K-01 and is targeted at different users (as the nex 5 is from the Nex 7 - i would bet that very few 5 owners actually buy the EVF)
Nex 7 availability has everything to do with the sensor supply is my guess. Sony was just in the unfortunate position of having announced and produced a small number before the sensor plant drowning killed supply. I know they have moved fabs to other plants but there is still a big hole in quantity that can be fabbed after losing a plant (given the time since launch we should be seeing the K5 and D7000 replacements which probably use the same sensor, but it looks like those are much further away (unless ricoh drops a big bomb at CP+ and launches Kr andK5 replacements - then what is left for photokina.... FF and a 645d replacement???)

I will expect a three tier K-mount camera system from Pentx. The K-01 being the bottom of the line. Price at release at $750 USD but retailing below $700 and even droppingon down to $600 very quickly to compete with the other mirrorless cameras without viewfinders.

Then a mid-level camera based on the K-01 but having a pentamirror optical viewfinder. It might even have an hydbrid optical/digital viewfinder. It will be released at a price of just above $1,000 USD. I would expect this camera by late Spring.

Then a high-end dslr to replace the K-5. It will be released in late Summer and be price at released at $1,750. I will expect it to have the hybrid optical/digital pentaprism viewfinder.

From the interview with the Pentax R&D person I will expect those two cameras to be slightly smaller and have 100% viewfinder.

So for CP+ I only expect the K-01 in more colors to be announce. Then a long kit zoom for the Q. Plus some Ricoh stuff like the GXR APS-C fix zoom modual.

The more exciting stull will come in late spring, summer and fall.,

Dave

I thought that was the assembly plant, not the sensor plant?

We've had expectations like this before in the run up to shows. Unless we get an actual leak I don't think anything will be announced.

Wasn't there an announcement a few weeks ago about a new Sony p&s sensor with even better IQ? It could see its way into the Q-2.
