2 Interchangeable lenses for K mount digital cameras
Model name (tentative): smc PENTAX-DA 560mm F5.6

Unifocal super-telephoto lens for use with K mount interchangeable-lens digital cameras
Sharp, well-defined images — particularly with distant subjects — thanks to the adoption of optics used in astronomical telescopes

Has Pentax ever made a mirror lens type astronomical telescopes?

I honestly don't think it's out of the realm of possibilities. Sony had a 500/8 mirror lens (that covered FF). Maybe this is a 560/5.6 mirror lens that covers a crop sensor. In a way, it wouldn't surprise me as that would make it a ~$500 lens instead of a ~$2500 lens.
I first thought that $2500 was too cheap for this lens, but then I saw that Canon sells their 400mm f5.6 for $1200. So who knows.

That said I don't think I'd spend any money on a mirror lens.

Well, from the posts above I'd say you're safe from the possibility of it being a mirror lens

As for the price, $2500 was a guess, although I did take into account the price of (somewhat) similar lenses. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

Ok, that does not look like the 40XS to me. Another K-01 design?

The 50 is exactly what I have been saying they ought to do - ok and a lot of people have been saying - an inexpensive 50 at around 1.8 like Nikon makes. This one sure looks like the big brother of the DA35/2.4 to me!

That second lens sure looks like a fast wide prime

Please please let it clear the mirror in a DSLR please for the love of photography, Pentax please. If not then the K-01 is going to have something special.

Based on the distance scale, this appears to be a DA 40 with some sort of lens extension on the back that would probably make this unusable on my K-5

Why? This new lens isn't a deal breaker on your current DSLR surely?

From the spec sheet on Pentax,jp

Interchangeable K-mount lens for the PETNAX K-01
Model name: to be announced laterProduct Image
• Super-thin interchangeable lens especially designed for PENTAX K-01
• Market launch: to be decided

Doesn't seem like the K-01 is a one-off or a replacement. Seems more like a new line of cameras.
