err what's with the people at DPReview? It's like a lot of them hate anything Pentax - even the news!

I guess you're relatively new to all this.
I was saying about the same in 2007 and others said the same to me then.

We and Canon should become accustomed to a much faster pace of product announcements from Pentax Ricoh Imaging.
Some here may have noticed that both Canon and Sony fired their CEOs a few days ago. We might see some redirection of efforts from both companies. Canon's management is probably aware that their firm is in Ricoh's cross-hairs. The responses should be interesting.

I'm reading the dpreview thread. There are a few negative posts, but most posters seem excited about the change and are defending Pentax.

Don't we love it, when things look good.
Pentax then will have 4 mounts to juggle.
Fenomenal skills required.
Been with Pentax since 1972.
And hope to stay for some more.

This is not good for me, and my wallet...already exhausted by all the news, now this. Some one have really rolled up sleaves at RICOH, and got things flowing. GREAT!

Ricoh is actually moving quicker than I expected. I didn't think any announcement of a new camera or lens would come before Photokina...

This change makes a lot of sense, as many of us were wondering how the combined/separate roadmaps would merge, change, or overlap.

Of course, things may feel quite differently inside the company as people are shuffled around or possibly feel resentment, but hopefully it's managed in a sane manner leading to products we/people want reasonably soon.

this is excellent news. For Me it means that it is highly likely the GXR is available in Canada finally (and some of the pretty stellar P&S Ricoh make). At some point maybe the ricoh stuff just gets rebranded Pentax but i think the 2 brand strategy is a good one. Ricoh cameras like Pentax will both benefit if they put the money into some Promotion and distribution (which I believe is happening)

If this is the pace of announcements it's going to be a bloody interesting year. there has been more news in the first 40 days this year than in the previous 12-18 months
Hold onto your hats people the ride may get interesting
