DA560 has such lens hood. Modular construction. IMO. Of course.
It's official photo from web. I've got it from Russian penta-club

Of course, it all depends. I also made a group shot in the past. From bottom to top:

- Sigma 500mm f/4.5 APO EX
- SMC Pentax-A* 600mm f/5.6 ED [IF]
- SMC Pentax-F* 250-600mm f/5.6 ED [IF]

(Note the special two-stage construction of the F* 250-600mm's hood).

If that image with the two-stage hood is real, the front element is extremely small. It would have to be the size of the tube at the mounting bracket, which makes the position of the mounting bracket very weird and out of balance.

It looks a bit like a fake or a render at least, since we don't see any of the tape-markings that we see on the real product photos. Furthermore of you look at the photo with the 560 in 3 different stages of extension you don't see any 'cut'-lines behind the extended parts, it's like the tube is extracted in photoshop or something. Look at it and try to imagine how it would slide in or out, it's not possible, each inner-tube would have to be thinner than the outer-tube that slides over it. In the render the outer-tubes are all rounded of to the size of the inner-tube leaving na room for sliding in/out without the inner-tube being thinner than shown in the picture. Long story...not sure if you get it...just see for yourself and try to make it work.

I believe the photo that we've seen so far is the real thing with the hood in not-extended mode. That would make much more sense in terms of front-element size and balance.

About the small ring - someone (I don't remember who, sorry) speculated that it could be for polarizers.
You don't even remember my name? I will have to cry myself to sleep tonight. And I was lying when I wrote those nice things about you in your yearbook.

I'm thinking (hoping) 'Limited'. Of course I was hoping for FA*, too, so I'll continue hoping for that.

I believe the bigger ring is for MF while the smaller is to turn the drop in filters

as for the big sticker, IMO it just covers writings related to the switches. One would focus limiter IMO but since Pentax uses in body SR, not too sure about the 2nd one
and the small sticker covering the writing after 560mm??? Well, since some of you think the red gasket is at the mounting end, how about SMC Pentax-DA 1:5.6 560mm WR

and as for the colapsible hood?
Now this is a shot in the dark, but what if the lens itself is colapsible for transport?

Orange O-ring under lens cap could say that DA560 could be star or WR lens

Plus 1 that is the norm for this type of lens

what would be the point of an affordable super tele if you had to buy a 112mm CPL to use with it that cost almost as much as a FA 50 1.4 when the drop in will be under a hundred and likely a common enough size to be useful on more than one lens
