All bets are welcome ... bring 'em on

Bonjour ogl,

I agree with you, but the end of that horizontal roadmap line fades out in a very indefinite and rather noncommittal fashion ... still willing to bet, any takers?

My thinking is that this lens was already in the "pipeline" before the Ricoh purchase, then Ricoh said "stop, red light, pause", show us and explain to us what's going on, then they evaluated and said "OK" you got a green light and funding (plus we're giving you our Ricoh camera assets to manage) ... and make these projects a reality, ie, the K-01 (after maybe a botched designer "make-over" job) and the 18-200, which was indicated to me last June.

Again any takers ... ?!

Allez et A+, J

I, on the other hand, am more interested in the rear element of the lens.

A potential DA* 15-85/2.8 DC [IF] sounds like one hell of a useful lens.

more info about lens roadmaps for Q and 645 system

It seems to me

DA16.5(17)-225 (DA HIGH MAGNIFICATION ZOOM) - IT COULD BE ON 2012!!!

2013
DA*15-85 (DA*ZOOM)
DA110-380 (100-400) (DA TELEZOOM)
DA21(22)-DA38 (20-40)(DA LIMITED ZOOM)
DA12-28 (DA WIDE ZOOM)
But what the H' is the K-01 lens mock up at the show? Sure isn't on that Roadmap. Did they forget they were developing it, or are the re-hires coming back with lenses they were working on at home?

Agreed. Note to self... must drop the 16-50 again! (Bstr*ds repaired it under warranty the first time)

Bonjour et bien noté,

Maybe there's more to the recently published roadmap than what's actually being shown to us (and the competition) ?!

With a range like that, don't you think it would be an f4 lens?

It just would seem odd to have the 18-135 and an 18-200. Not enough difference in focal length to be noticeable. I guess the only thing is if the 18-200 had better corners at the long end...

My thoughts back in June 2011 ...

Bonjour Rondec,

Yep, I agree and I wrote that same thing back in June 2011 ... see https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-news-rumors/147766-pentax-rep-france-said-today.html

I'll bet that the 18-200 will not be WR (like the 18-135), thus a lesser expensive lens and maybe the same formula (plastic mount, etc.) as the DA 35 2.4 AL and the announced and soon to come DA 50 1.8 ... this would/could be the noticeable difference.

It would be an entry-level lens, travel (second) lens that would go with the K-01 and the future K-r replacement (if there is to be one, maybe placed between the K-01 and the next generation K-5 or K-3?, etc.) ...

Still taking on bets ... what odds do you give me?

Salut, J Frog

I'd like to see a diagram of the 50/1.8 and figure out its lens configuration!

My 16-50mm 2.8 will be listed in the marketplace the day this lens goes on sale. This is the absolute perfect lens for me, assuming the iq is up to par.

Have to agree it's an almost perfect length for me. Ideal travel lens 90% of my shooting is in that range (well 14 rather than 16 since that is what i have)
