I can hardly believe it. Such a price makes no sense...
The Sony 500mm f/4 is only available as a built to order option, with UK price to be confirmed. Sony Japan is listing the price of the lens as1,312,500 Yen, which is a whopping £10, 783... better get saving now.
1 312 500 YEN = 17 000 USD

I know nothing about len design. but is it possible:

1. optics used in astronomical telescopes allow pentax to deliver a affordable but good quality long telephoto lens
2. but pentax needs to solve the problem of an extremely long tube issue
3. and they solved it will a new idea (to make it as a foldable len)
4. and the texts hidden in the lens' info is not related to * or wr but a new description for this foldable len (that's why they hide it now)?
and 560mm 5.6 quite sth related or based or idea of 400mm 4 + 1.4x.
Do pentax has a patent with a built in extender like the one in canon lens? (200mm~400mm)

I heard 13000 euros and 16000 usd
not sure Sony will sell many of them when the canon is half the price and the Nikon is maybe 60 % of the price. and if it's a pro dealer you can likely walk in and try it (maybe even rent it) as well as walk out the door with one. Add a D800 or 5Dmk2/3 to the price and you still save several thousand dollars. I know the Sony lens will be stellar based on the other high end Sony lenses but made to order is a silly way to market this lens if they have any intention of selling some. SLT FF has the potential for faster AF and faster FPS than OVF canikons so paired with this lens sony could chase the sports market (If the EVF in the SLT is up to it) but it has to be available for this to work

Pentax should get together with

a manufacturer of cookware, say T-Fal or something for a non-stick, abrasion proof exterior.

Edit: nix the non-stick idea, slippery exterior would be hard to hold!

I think it's a foldable lens. And the abrasions are confirm this situation.

Aside from the fact I have my NEX5N and love it... especially with the K mount adapter coming from Ebay

Do we have an estimated price for this lens yet?

There is such a system lens that can grow, from a cheap manufacturer I think. So not totaly new. The quality is a different matter.

she hasn't been online much lately that i've seen but the desire for a pink hello kitty design is high on her list (she already has a Q though, not sure she will get a second)
and she already has a pink nikon J1
not sure what colour her nex 5 is
actually given how many cameras she buys i'm certain she will order one of the Q's

I wonder... optics used in astronomical telescopes to provide better image quality for distant subject... is there some kind of atmospheric turbulence reduction ? For examples via a slightly move of the sensor coupled to the lens ?
There are 2 visible switches ; one is for AF/MF, the other ?

consensus seems to be one switch is AF/MF and the other is focus limiter.
Having said that, I have seen lenses like you mention. Especially surveilance lenses use "something" to combat air turbullance but I don't think Pentax would include it in folding, non DA* lens...

That kind of technology is top secret. They would include it in such lenses, but they would have to kill all the buyers.
