Originally posted by gazonk Why? It's brilliant. Instead of introducing a whole new mount and a complete new lens lineup, you make a couple of these recessed lenses. For longer lenses, a longer flange distance is just an advantage (you're basically reusing a tube that has to be included with every lens on those short-flange systems).
+1, gazonk has the right idea here. If you are really looking for small, one can go to these specially designed lenses, maybe 3 altogether, thats as many as Fuji x1 has now. If you want to play around a little more, you can use any of the regular K mount lenses. It is brilliant pragmatism.
Compare that to the x100 - one fixed lens.
With my K5, i probably won't buy the XS lenses, but others may like to. We are all different and diverse with our shooting styles.
