Oh my god, if they release a 15-85 f2.8...
I would imagine that it will be 2.8 to 4 or something. Continuous 2.8 would make for a huge lens - and an exceptionally expensive one as well.

Do you folks realise that 15(16)-85/2.8 would be huge. And I mean HUGE! I'm betting on f4 or variable aperture

When full time with Pentax, my travell kit was 24/2 + 43 +50/1.2 and one longer lens (whatever I had) and 31 for mrs on her K-x. Problem I'd have with K-01 as travel camera is lack of VF. It'll make things PITA on bright day...
The OM-D looks very tempting, now we just have to wait to see how it's sensor performs...with their 17/2.8 (or Pana 20/1.7), Pana-Leica 25/1.4 and either 45/1.8 or 75/1.8 it would make really sweet set up IMO

So very true. My guess/hope is a f4.0

It will make for a good travel lens. Then couple of faster lenses for low light. Also a longer lens like the DA*60-250.

I am also dreaming of the Olympus E-M5 for a second (travel) system. The 12-50 for the general kit lens. Then a 12/2, 25.1.4 and the 45/1.. Still have to wait for how the camera and sensor tests out. Pus really the K-5 is fairly small so I will not really be losing much size wise.

Haha, my apologies but I sincerely had no idea.

Hmm... if it's an f4, I might consider it if it's sharper than the 16-50. So far I've been fine with the vignetting and the distortion of the 16-50, but I think I can live with losing a little speed in return for a sharper and less distorted lens.

Variable aperture though... it'd be harder to convince me.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I'm betting on 24-75.

Do you think the lens would be the same as the Ricoh 24-85?

Man they're on a roll these days! K-01 looks better every time I see pictures, that pink q looks beutiful, and now new lenses!

I agree, except I'm not sure the pink Q would match my shoes
Lots of new stuff is good news, it shows Ricoh means business with Pentax.

A potential DA* 15-85/2.8 DC [IF] sounds like one hell of a useful lens.
a replacement for the DA*16-50--- or maybe a full frame alternative??

as I wrote in another thread, if your guess is right, and it would be well executed, it would be enough to draw me back to the system

Mon dieu ... un "Q" rose !!!

Bonjour,

Really, really hideous ... the pink Q, but maybe not as tacky as the ultra hot pink Nikon J1.

And yes, I am on a personal crusade against pink cameras ...

Allez, c'est hyper moche!!! J Frog

Star means the DA zoom won't be variable aperture - so it's either going to be 2.8, 3.5, or 4, and I don't think it would make sense if it were slow. A 28-80mm F2.8 wouldn't be all that big- at least as long as it's only for APS-C.

I didn't say that but...
- lack of SR is noticable for me
- I doubt any Pentax zoom lens (* or the upcoming Ltd) will be as expensive as it's Canon counterpart
- I like Pentax, I only left it because the current equipment on offer didn't let me do what I wanted it to. Sure, K-5 is very close but still not there IMO.

For the future I hope Ricoh will iron some things out in Pentax. I hope QC will be tighter, and gear will become more reliable (I chewed through 3 K10D4 in 3 years, SDM issue, shutter blur issue etc). I will probably end up running 2 systems but in future (most probably distant one) I'm planning to get back to K mount
