SLT was a failure for Canon...
Agreed but as has been pointed out to me previously it's not really the same beast now as the VF is an LCD not OVF like the canon was. Still it eats a 1/3 of a stop of light guaranteeing the guy with the same sensor and OVF will have better performance without trying (not to mention even in OVF models sony performance with their own sensors is the lowest of the 3 main users (nikon/pentax/sony)

large format digital backs exist. and there are lenses for it too.
I still think Pentax is on the way to a FF camera, and that the new design was a clever choice.
Apple were nowhere until the candy iMacs appeared.
If I could afford a K-01 now, I'd buy one. Perhaps good that I cannot, so I may have more funds when the K-2 is launched
Aside from the 1 custom back that was made for a particular user show me a product large format back. there are adapter plates allowing the use of medium format backs on large format cameras but they are still medium format images not large format.

Will be first released in Germany

From an ID that has successfully predicted the release data of Pentax mirrorless and Nikon D800 before anywhere I had seen.
Let's see what will happen.
ok it´s the Photokina time. But if FF, why Carl Zeiss ( who are normally good informed *) closed their FF ManualFocus Z-lens line for Pentax ?

Zeiss/Voigtlander stopped production of K mount lenses back when Hoya was in charge. They surely wouldn't have known about the Ricoh purchase, nor Ricoh's plans for the company.

and with their limited production facilities it was probably a choice between producing for m4/3 or k mount and currently m4/3 has bigger share

The guy who said Pentax was going to release an FF also told me Parallax was going to post the above... so now i'm doubly sure. I think I'll just continue to use my DA*60-250 on the new full frame, I'll just crop the images. They're bound to be better.

I'm not against Pentax making FF but before they do that I hope they have all the necessary internals polished up first before they release one. It should be able to compete against Canikon offers price-wise then spec-sheet wise to attract attention first

so much has to be done and Ricoh hasn't even handled Pentax for a year yet, so it's really indefinite when they will start making one.... if they plan to. Even with Ricoh funding I'm not sure if they have enough financial power to maintain all those camera lines and upgrade them all at the same time periodically (new lenses, new flash system, new firmware, better AF, and a whole lot else). We can dream on, but until Pentax gets like more than 10% of the market share I think it's not really that practical for the company in terms of production+R&D

I believe you need to be able to trace your roots to Germany. No problem with me, just can't speak the language. Night School?

I heard that Pentax was going to put the 645D sensor in a K5 body and allow any aspect ratio you'd like.
