Microsites for K20D and K200D registered

In some previous posts people are wondering if the new K10D replacement will be called the K20D, K14D, K1D, etc. Checking the Japanese WHOIS domain lookup, Pentax on Dec 17th registered the microsites and

Here are the links to the WHOIS info:
Whois K20D.JP
Whois K200D.JP

Nothing similar for K14D, and K1D was registered in '06 by some other company.

Good stuff!

with all the speculation, I am actually incredibly surprised that these names only got registered in the last couple of weeks. Mind you, these products aren't up there in the public knowledge like say, a video game console or a major movie or book, but even in the past couple months, I am amazed that cybersquatters didn't grab them.

That, and isn't it kind of odd, marketing-wise, to wait that long to grab the names? I mean, months before release other companies buy a ton of possible names, some of which are never ever used-or were only bought as decoys.

interesting indeed

I too was surprised because the risk of some cybersquatter grabbing a name and then demanding $$. If you look at the domains Pentax has, if they couldn't get, they would probably have gone for, or at a last resort, created a sub-domain under their main site.

Here are the other domains that Pentax has in Japan:

For now, we can only hope that someone slips up and accidentally releases the website content before Jan 24th... ah one can dream...
