No more DSLR's from Pentax Canada

While in the camera store today I was told that there aren't any more Pentax DSLR's available from Pentax Canada.
And it sounds like they can't get any more until the new models come out.

So if your thinking of buying one you'd better act quickly.

It sounds like they ran out before the holiday rush was over, so I'm sure that they lost a fair chunk of change.

The new cameras could very well be released days after the announcement rather than weeks or months if this is the case.

Cameracanada uses the words "While supply last" for the K100DSUPER.

Henrys will not advertise New Lower Prices with Pentax like they do with other brands. Plus they are low in stock on bodies.

Very interesting if you are on the fence for either Pentax DSLR.....

As soon as the British Columbia dealers get them I'll get to test drive one
I know that Pentax won't let me down.

I'd always figured that we'd have a product announcement in January, with release to come in the following months. Perhaps this is a positive aspect of the Hoya acquisition/merger, or perhaps one or more dealers bought a large amount of inventory- I know Ritz made a big purchase a couple months ago, perhaps there've been more stores doing a similar thing.

Regardless, I hope release follows announcement quickly, and continues to do so for future products (not something Pentax has been known for doing in the past....)

This is true in Alberta. My friend just bought one of the last 5 K100D kits in the province, and he was told the same thing about Pentax Canada. Apparently they didn't expect the demand, and have run out of inventory.

Any Cannucks also notice the price went up $90 at cameracanada and $60 at Henrys. Seems as the stock gets lower the price goes higher...

Could we see a trend on Fleabay someday where people that got a great deal on the K10D will see the value rise of their purchase. And I thought it was going to be just fast glass that is expensive there!

I'll take a positive spin on this one and think that this is a good indicator that the new cameras are gonna be *released* (and not just announced) sooner than we think, which is good for all of us.

I'm thinking positively about this, too. Unfortunately I have come across a few salesdroids lately who are concluding that Pentax is going out of business. I also know a few people in the market for a new DSLR and are flush with Christmas Cash...

You can always come to Europe to order one. That is... if you'd rather spend 30% more on it than you normally would overseas.

K100D in Canada

Yes, I noticed it. Just got in under the wire at Henry's with the K100D Super kit for $499.

I'm pleased with the deal, the good service from the Henry's internet order people who helped me with some order issues, and all-around thrilled with the camera.

One overlooked place to buy the K100D (non super) - Sears.ca at $519. I almost went for that, but the "super" at $20 less from Henry's tipped it for me.
