Pentax 60mm f2.8 FF(35mm) + 90mm f2.8 (645) Macro lens patents

Well, the clue is in the title.

Why do they continue to put out FF macro lenses? (or at least their patents).

Interesting, why a 60mm F2.8 lens? That sort of encroaches on the 50mm F2.8 territory...

DFA 645 90/2.8 is real already. as for 60/2.8...maybe it's replacement of DFA50/2.8 macro?

Are we sure the significance of this is in the (35mm)? Can anyone tell from the patent whether this could be an XS design? A 60mm XS macro would make some sense . . .

60mm is a great focal length for macro to me. I love my 35mm Ltd, but the working distance is too short for live subjects, while my D/FA 100mm is a bit long to walk around with. I'll buy one, no doubt.

macro lenses are normally longer than other non macro lenses- an XS macro would be difficult.

and the diagrams hardly look pancake-like.

Look at the diagrams: it's almost the same optical formula (Sonnar variant, think Carl Zeiss Makro-Sonnar 100mm f/2.8 for Contax N) with a different scale and lens groups placed slightly differently that results in a 90mm f/2.8 for 645D (length: 206mm)

or 60mm f/2.8 for 24x36 (length: 126mm)

I hadn't considered this. I thought the patent said full frame somewhere but I could be mistaken, and even if true doesn't preclude it from being an XS design.

The diagrams look like a 200 mm design, so I don't think we can really trust the scale.

Coult that 60mm lens be a cheap DA-L lens like new 50mm/f1.8 and 35mm/f2.4? That would also make sence to bring a 200$ macrolens to the market.

Why 60mm? It's exactly like a 90mm on full frame, a classical macro focal. It makes sense, in the Pentax fashion to present crop lenses, to have a set made of 35mm, 60mm and 135mm macro, to replace 50, 100 and 200. Why design it for full frame? To sell the patent to Tokina, for full frame Canikon cameras.

In answer to my own question- no it is not.
