Should have just licensed the Tamron 60mm f/2 like they did the 18-250mm IMO. Internal focusing, non-recessed front element to maximise working distance, very good sharpness, also useful as a portrait/low light lens. Add WR and it would be a real winner.

Tamron 60/2 is not bad lens. But...
The patent is Pentax patent for 60/2.8 lens.
Not 60/2.

18-250 is another history.

It is, although the 60/2 was in existence when the patent was filed and I have a sneaking suspicion it may turn out to be the more useful lens.

The 18-250 is another history but I can definitely see fostering a good relationship with third party manufacturers as beneficial.

No any sense. Ricoh and Pentax has good optical engineers and lens factories.

Maybe they're finally starting to seriously think about the inevitable full-frame

Edit: Im sorry, it just feels natural preparing for disappointment... in that way... its easier to be happily surprised

to put it simply- ricoh can't take over canon unless they offer everything that they do- better at a better price point.

so they have to be thinking about FF

thats my two cents.

Perhaps what makes this macro special is that it goes beyond 1:1...

*speculation*

A 2x magnification to 3 x magnification will suffice. A twin macro flash light instead of ring flash, would be ideal.

I don't think there is any point getting our hopes up that it will e more than 1:1 magnification...

[Field of the Invention]

Especially photography from infinite distance to near actual size is possible for this invention, it uses for an inside seal single-lens reflex camera, and it relates to a suitable macro lens system.

[Background of the Invention]

Conventionally, the macro lens system which is used for a photographic camera etc. and which can be photoed with 0.5 or more-time photographing magnification at least is known. In the macro lens system to which the lens group most arranged at the object side at the time of focusing is moved (it lets out), generally the movement magnitude of a lens group is large, and when it uses for an auto-focus camera, since driving torque is large, there is a tendency for high-speed auto-focusing to become difficult. Since a lens diameter is large and especially the taking lens for medium-format cameras has large weight, its burden to a drive system is not more greatly preferred.

As a means to solve this, at the time of focusing, the 1st lens group most arranged to the object side is considered as immobilization to the image surface, and the macro lens system of the inner focus type to which two or more lens groups other than the 1st lens group are moved independently is proposed (patent documents 1 and 2). By arranging a lens with the most negative refracting power to the object side (most the object side [ The 1st lens group ]) of a total light study system in this macro lens system, Amendment of several aberration is tried over the large photographing area from infinite distance to near actual size, securing the back focus of sufficient length for a 35mm film single-lens reflex camera.

So... What we could have here is a 60mm macro with internal focus, possibly WRed like the new DFA 100/2.8... I hope that's a replacement for DFA 50
