PS. the Sears marketplace has a 3rd party vendor named "H and B Digital"(!) and they will ship me a 60-250/4 for $2000 + $551 shipping!

Is it being delivered to your door by a swimsuit model?

As of Friday, 4/13 Amazon itself is listing the DA 60-250mm f/4 for $1720 USD. Yes, that is Amazon itself, not a partner seller. Is this the start of the thaw???

Still way too early to pounce, far too much money for this lens. Hopefully there's still some distance yet to fall before things stabilize. Hopefully there won't be a buying frenzy at this price point.

Here's hoping.

No, he lives in NJ, so it would be delivered by a Jersey Shore cast member. Probably a shirtless guy with lots of product in his hair.

they made one limited run of the FA43 in Leica thread mount (m39). the rumour is the actual assembled and body of that lens was Cosina with optics and optical design from Pentax. I came with an OVF for use on leica cameras since none of the frame lines would show a 43mm FOV. It's pretty highly regarded. I think Digitalis on the Forum owns one.

Steven Goudy discusses it on his FA43 page

Pentax 43/1.9 Limited

The lens for the Leica was called the Pentax SMC Pentax-L 43mm f/1.9 Special. It was based on the optics of the 43 LTD and had a matching optical view finder. Obviously, it was manual focus. A couple of years ago, it could still be had for ~ $650. If I had an M9, I would have been all over it like a lime green suite on a used car salesman.
Here is a review of it.

So it's OK for Pentax to make FF lenses but not FF cameras? Strange concept.
Why strange? That's exactly what Pentax do now.

I've been advocating that Pentax leverage their lens know-how into other platforms for years. They could have repurposed the entire line of Limiteds for MFT and swept the market. Until recently there was absolutely no fast, small, well-built primes to compete.

It wouldn't be all that hard to tweak the FA ltd lenses for the Nikon platform given the registration distance. EOS would be double because of the registration as well but the af would be more tricky. Pentax could bring out another run of the A 50/1.2 as well.

You could just blame it on the shipping company and their new "uniforms."
