Bonjour dlacouture,

I saw that special ... and how do you like your "ee-s" screen? Is it worth the cost and effort?

Merci d'avance, J

I'm glad my non-US Pentax-shooting brethren are unaffected by these increases.

Well Ron linked to a couple stores NL. 700 to 730 K5 body only.
Of course if numipixel is also a B&M shop, this is different. I also buy from my B&M store when posible.

In fact I may just buy a K5 in a couple minutes from him but 700 vs 860, it won't cut it.
But regarding lens prices?

I think the rest of us are safe, this just brought the US in line with the rest of the world. I get the impression that the product has pretty much been whored on price for the US market. that's the problem with your whole distribution model being online. this will protect the B&M guys that they are trying to bring back. Mainly you are seeing the esult of sticker shock
the web has made the market pretty small, and US pricing was likely screwing up other markets (markets where the share is also larger BTW so obviously deep discount prices didn't help the brand)

Just tried and do not see the "special" offer any longer ... it was the "Boutique Pentax" on Amazon (Amazon.fr ... if I remember correctly)

It is (or was) only the body despite that the website photo shows a K-5 with a DA 18-55 WR.

See - http://www.amazon.fr/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?__mk_fr_FR=%C5M%C5Z%D5%D1&url=search...pentax&x=0&y=0

Also Boutique Pentax - http://www.amazon.fr/Pentax/b/ref=amb_link_158831927_3?ie=UTF8&node=20705103...tique%20pentax

A+, J

Bonjour Nass,

OK ... so, it's only the States today, but I'll bet you "dollars to dough nuts" that we'll see the same scheme soon in Europe ... not optimistic here at all when you see prices vary greatly across Europe. Why can one buy a K-5 significantly cheaper in the Netherlands and/or Belgium as opposed in France and maybe elsewhere ... IMHO they are going to "clean house" here, too.

As they say in the States, "just saying ..."

Europe has different competition laws as well compared to the states so what happens would probably be different. K5 being pretty close to live end i think may well be the exception to the rule. how much do the lens prices vary?

One euro less than the used K-5 I bought last month.

Well, it's still there... Going from 1st to 8th of April, and available on several options: body only, 16-50, 17-70, 18-55, 18-135, 18-55+50-200, 16-50+18-135 (strange one!).

Here is a screenshot...

Well, it's simply the best accessory I ever bought! Linear metering, f/1.6 DoF, just perfect for all these old MF lenses (and also to check what is actually in focus when using my f/1.4 AF lenses)...

Cost is a strong word : 30 (delivered) is a ridiculous price for a FF high-precision screen! Cutting it was quite straightforward...
Granted, I've previously cut two MZ-M screens for my brother's and my own K20, so I had some experience on what to do and what to avoid!

Anyway, with a Samyang 85/1.4, it's the only way to go! And you can focus anywhere on the screen, big plus compared to splits...

Where did you get those MZ-M screens? I called Pentax France and they refused to sell to me as I am an end customer. I would like two of them, for my MZ-6 and MZ-7.

Well, Pentax France sold me a bunch of their leftover stock right before their service dept was outsourced to P2MS... Ridiculous price, too : 5 piece, so I bought 5 of them! Cut two for my DSLRs, installed one in my MZ-6, gave one to my brother for its MZ-5n, can't remember what I did with the last one...

You still have the option to buy a whole MZ-m just for its screen...
