they are fast enough for 24mp FF and apsc, but i think a 60mp ff 645 would benefit from them (heck the nikon 36mp ff does apparently)
Only D4 had XQD cardslot for fast sports since a slower camera doesn't have such a hurry.

Wouldn't it be news...

if they WEREN'T working on a 645D successor? Camera companies are either in continuous development, or are dying.

I think they need to start selling the one they've got.

Too rich for my blood, though...I'm saving up for a Q!

Cheers,
Cameron

There's a contradiction in what you're saying: not working on the 645D successor means stagnation, not continuous development.

They did that in 2010.

Isn't that optical hotshoe viewfinder in the pics above the Pentax one which cost about 250 - for the Q; thats about the cost of the average lens for it

That's what I was implying...

full list...they're selling for about $199.00...and as far as I can tell, it is, technically, a lens....but it's SO cute.

A lens for the 645D is about $5,000.00 as I recall...

Cheers,
Cameron

most lenses for the 645D aren't any where near $5000, just the 25mm, and the big primes like the 300 4.0

for an idea look at the lineup prices fom my local dealer

FA645 75MM F2.8 $749
FA645 200MM F4.0 $999
FA645 150MM F2.8 $1199
DFA645 55MM F2.8 $1249
FA645 120MM F4.0 Macro $1799
FA645 45MM F2.8 $1799
FA645 35MM F3.5 $2199
FA645 55-110 (F5.6 $2199
FA645 300MM F5.6 $2399
FA645 80-160 (F4.5 $2499
FA645 150-300 (F5.6 ED $2999
FA645 45-85 (F4.5 SMC $2999
FA645 33-55 (F4.5 $3199
FA645 400MM F5.6 $3499
FA*645 300MM F4.0 $4499
DFA 25 - $4999

Mostly pretty reasonable (more so if you put them in Context of the Mamiya/Phase lineup or the Hassy and Leica S2) in fact you can have primes from 25-400 and the body for the base price of an S2 body with the same sensor, and add all the zooms and still cost less than the top hassy body

Of course getting one of these may entail a wait. Pentax Canada may have provided him with a price list, but it's not like he has them all on the shelf

A minor correction: the S2 has a different, smaller sensor.

of the same tech though. I like the concept and I'm sure the lenses are amazing, but like everything leica it is wildly over priced for what it offers (aside form of course exclusivity which always comes at a high price and holds no appeal for me)

Indeed.
I had the opportunity to play with it once, at Photokina (with the 645D as well). Not a bad camera by any means, but we (me, other visitors and the Leica stuff) had issues with e.g. zooming in on a image.
It felt more responsive than the Pentax, though.

at 3 x plus the price it should be more responsive (heck it should be more everything)
I do like the form factor though, like a monster DSLR about the same size and weight as a 1D or D4, so not ridiculous

The sensor is almost the same: Kodak, no АА filter and very close in size and MP - 45*30@37.5 MP vs 44*33@40 MP.

What you get with Leica and Hassy is a personal salesman for life, who will always personally ensure your needs are met and your service is prompt - and you pay a huge commission when you buy anything..

Yes it is great but there is potential for improvements(?). The current 645D is very much targeted at the film 645 users to such an extent that they haven't bothered much with lenses for it outside japan. Hence, the form factor.
However, about 1/3 of its depth can be shaved off; it is there due to the film chamber of the original. You could make a much more compact body; pretty much in the shape and size of a Canon/Nikon FF body. Such a camera may be more marketable to a larger audience. It could also be codeveloped with an FF body and a high-end APS body with mirrorbox and prism as their main differences (apart from sensors of course)...
