Pentax K30 Picture Leak & Discussion: Weather-sealed intro DSLR

Pentax K30: New Intro-Level DSLR - Pentax Camera News & Rumors - PentaxForums.com

Back in January I reported that the upcoming Pentax K-r replacement will be called K-30. The above picture of the upcoming Pentax K-30 DSLR camera was taken from a French catalog.

From the picture I can spot the following Pentax K-30 specs:

16MP sensor
Max ISO: 25,600
Full HD video
Weather sealed
Price: 799 EUR (around 1,000 USD)

--------------------------------

Looks awesomely good and "tough"!!!

That is a fairly cheap WR body...

Edit: So it's a K01 in a normal body? Or, a normal body with a K01 sensor? Or, a normalized design with a K01 sensor?

Well, it looks like the K5 replacement HAS to be 20+ MPixels and do more.
Congrats to the K-r users! That's a nice upgrade!

A print catalogue image of a camera that hasn't been announced yet? I'm skeptical, but this is plausible.

Original Poster
There is a substantial change to the look of the camera, and I like the look.
It looks very "manly".

That looks legit, with a completely different design and all. Grip looks great! It also has a front dial...

it's not out as a catalogue yet, it's an upcoming issue. could have been leaked from the printer, or from someone working at the store who came across a copy. it was already brought up in the KR successor thread

If they are indeed releasing 3 apsc dslr this year this will be the middle one I would bet (given the WR nature)

looks like a very nice camera for what will likely be an $849-$899 kit in North America.

I really don't like that look. The handgrip looks awesome, but my god... Could they make an uglier flash hump? And what's with the logo being tilted forward?

Remember the Ricoh/Pentax interview earlier this year where they said DSLR could still be made smaller. that prism hump looks like a result of that idea.

the grip looks excellent though

Didn't Pentax had a patent for a new kind of viewfinder? That might be its first implementation...

The only issue with a front leaning mirror/prism hump, is that it limits the diameter of the lens you can put on it. I don't think that's a big deal for 95% of the lenses out there, but I serioulsy doubt you can get a SMC Reflex 1000mm on that body or possibly other mirror/reflex lenses. Dunno. We'll see.

When the specs come out, I predict this will be a home run for Pentax.

After the Q and K-01, it's about time we see a new DSLR from Pentax. I am going to sleep soundly tonight!!!

Well done.

The flash hump looks a little odd, but what do I care? Looks like a great camera. I'd buy it if a) I didn't already have 2 K-x bodies I'm thrilled with & b) had any money.

Larger lenses are probably the reason why they curved the VF/Flash hump downward (more flash being the issue than VF). Too many people seem to like having a flash on-board for that design aspect to change much. I'd personally like to see it gone.
