Does it mean new WR lenses as well ?

A 35mm WR could be nice for street photography in wet cities (London ? )
a 24 WR (35 equivalent) would be even nicer and fill a gaping hole in the prime line

Doesn't this cover almost everything that K-r users asked for?
K-5 sensor, full HD video, weather sealing, 2 dials, more "Pro" looks, "RAW" button, 3 AF modes and possibly some more stuff I missed.
So, what's all that whining about?

This will sell at exactly the same price as the K01 and it's a "REAL" camera (the contoured bottom hints that there will also be a grip for it) with the undoubtedly great IQ of both the K01 and the K-5. If the video mode from the K01 is retained - or even better improved, this will probably be a competition killer.

If this is what the K-r succesor is, I can't wait to see what the K-5 succesor will be.
A great camera at a great price, kudos to both Pentax and Ricoh.

just going off one picture, i like it. but i'm even more excited that it could mean more WR lenses, as others have mentioned. That ruggedness was what brought me to pentax from a highly novice/amateur perspective. i've since stayed for the primes and would love to have the two things combined more often.

With the K-5 at the same price, why would I buy that camera? It has to have something spectacular hidden.
First, unlike the K-5, it might have decent video.
Second, by the time the K-5 is gone for good, this will probably sell at 559 - 599 (body)...

Interesting. I wonder how much just the body would be when it releases??
Well the boulanger.fr site that shows the K-30 and 18-55WR for 799 euro also shows the Canon 600D with 18-55IS lens for for 679 euro. So at their site, the Pentax is 17.7% more in cost.

In the US, the Canon T3i (same as 600D) with 18-55IS lens goes for $750 USD. So the Pentax would be somewhere near $883 USD if it scaled similarly. K-r is still selling new with lens for about $650 and K-5 with lens is about $1250 at the big names like Adorama and B&H. But you can get the K-5 as some other places under $1000 online.

If this has peak focus, I'm in. Otherwise I'll go the direction of the k-01 (too tied to my mf lenses).

Video should be better yes, but it still releases at the same price if that ad is correct. I may be strange but I take a top LCD and 7fps rather than improved video, but I might be strange? Also people might look at the max ISO which is lower than K-5, even though it's bad to base the choice on that. By the time it drops to 559 (based on that 799 is correct) K-5 could be at that level and even lower used.

K5 used price come november will be entirely dictated by the K3 release price in september. Sure this has many of the features but it likely isn't the build quality for one of a K5 (K5/K7 are solid as a brick, the paint has worn on mine in a couple of spots exposing the mag alloy - just like an old well used film camera would )

Things that I like more than the K-5:

- the sensible placement of the green button;
- the flat strap lugs (K200D and K-x style);
- AA's

Don't like the slope of the camera front and logo though.

The font of the logo even looks different now too, which will upset Pentax fontography watchers.

Seems more like a K200D Replacement, apart from the way they placed the 'Pentax' on the Pentamirror(Prism?) I quite like the design.

Specs wise it could go against a D7000? Hopefully the video quality is good and retains manual control too.

Also I noticed in the picture it says 799euros Maximum so it could well be cheaper right?

Agreed!
The handle and the slope on the top looks great.
Also don't quite like the flash housing - looks like a Nikon design.
This is a K200 successor, not a K-r successor .... I have wanted a K200 successor for some time, bought K5 eventually. But glad Pentax continue this line.
