they have said that going forward all VF would be 100% though, so that avenue is out (definitely the low price is Pentamirror though as is this mid model I imagine) Definitely WR is gone, back to a single wheel and various other options gone, with more idiot modes built in (since they cost virtually nothing to offer)
First time hearing about the 100% VF, i wonder why they would put one in a budget model, a 98% is just so much cheaper to make.

Quite frankly, affordable WR is all this camera really has.

16mp is strictly the APS-C standard now (even for m4/3s) and the 2nd dial is a power feature for the initiated. Its not really a marketable feature for the newcomer, for them its merely a bonus.

This camera *really* needs to be bundled with WR kit lenses.
Don't forget the price.
This camera looks to have the same performance as the Nikon D7000 but is priced quite a bit lower.
The D7000 is going now for €999, the advertised price of the K30 is €799 but the actual sale price will probably be around €729, that's €270 difference so that really is interesting.

The original purpose of the button is obsolete since memory cards are cheap enough to shoot raw + jpg 100% of the time.
I use it for exposure bracketing. Very useful for HDR.

D7000 likely is up for replacement like the K5. Both models are impacted by the features on the K30

WR and (assumed) dual wheel seem pretty impressive at the price. It'll be interesting to see what the NA release price is

Bundled yes. Either the 18-55 or the 18-135.

But it also has - best in-class IQ, best in-class ISO performance, and colored bodies (hey, if Canon's emulating...)!!

But WR is a big big thing, even if you say "all it really has". It's technically competing with the D5100 (or 5200, if that comes out) and the T3i (and it's subsequent release). Neither of those have WR (currently).

No-one has the full feature set. Tav will likely remain an option on the K5 and it's replacement. there have to be some incentives to move up. Versus your Kx i'm pretty sure this will be a big step up (and therefore your new primary camera with the kx relegated to backup/second body status

WR is a big thing, but only if the feature is fully realized to the consumer with WR kit lenses. Both the Amazon UK listings and their respective press photos very worryingly had the non-WR DA L lenses attached.

If it does indeed come bundled this way, Pentax would be sending out a very mixed message and will likely be getting a TON of uninformed warranty repairs sent their way.

No one here knows, but if it doesn't have TAv, it should at least allow ISO to float in Manual mode like the K-01. Honestly, I will not consider another camera without one of those two features.

So, after a few weeks when the new user becomes "initiated", he/she is supposed to... what? Sell the DSLR and "upgrade"? Pure foolishness.

This I agree with.

Didn't seem to be much of an issue with all the previous WR bodies.
