I think the new body texturing will go by the wayside when the successor to the K30 is introduced. Why? Bcause I am predicting complaints about all the holes and ribs being too difficult to keep clean.
A safe bet around here!

If one person makes three posts around here, will that = complaints?

I think a side benefit of the WR seals is the camera is washable.

Pentax Russia has another specs about speed and buffer of K-30

HI: 6 fps till 176 images(JPEG ***), 21 image (RAW)
LO: 3 fps till the card full (JPEG ***)
I'd vote for the ability to administer fps (in integer increments) up to a max rather than be limited to two choices, both of which may be less than optimum for the situation. For certain aerobatics, I'd be happy with four or five fps but I'm stuck with either two (IIRC) or seven. The slower fame rate allows me to follow the multiple aircraft longer just based on 24 raw/4 fps. If I picked up another second or two owing to buffer clearing, I'd be happier yet.

I'm predicting people will suck it up and clean the damn camera themselves

I would have licked it clean if it was FF monochrome.

Anybody seen any reports on the high ISO performance of this camera yet? I'd like to think that it will be at least as good as the K-5 or the K-01 since they seem to be in the same sensor family.

K5 is better then the K-01 so there are certainly differences.
For now the best assumption is that the performance is the same as the K-01 since they share the same sensor and processor.

Looking at DXO for the K-5 and K-01, I see a significant difference in DR, but no significant difference in high ISO.

High ISO is not the same as noise

DXO lists SNR for high iso.

HawaiianOnline was asking about high ISO noise. You said the K-5 is better than the K-01, which I disagreed with, citing High ISO tests at DXOMark.

I didn't say noise, but that's what we were talking about, high ISO noise. The K-5 is not better than the K-01 and I expect the K-30D will match them.

After ISO1600 it's indeed the same but after ISO1600 all the gains are done by the software from what i understand so if you shoot with ISO1600 and overexpose the photo in PP with 1 stop you will get the same result as ISO3200 but then without the smoothing and we see that with ISO1600 the DR is higher with the K5 then it is with the K30.

About noise, that's the same across the board so does that mean the K5 is not better at lower ISO's... this is so confusing.

I've tried the K-30 (a pre-production unit) at ISO3200 and 6400, even in JPG the results are okay. But I'm sorry I can't post the results at the moment because they are, you know, not the final product...
