K30, K5n, K3 and maybe full-frame at Photokina...

A quote from the German DSLR forum:
translated:
"... 1.) the last K5s arrived from the Far East
2.) As of May, the K5n will be available (with articulated screen)
3.) As of July/summer there will be a K3

...and the big bang:

a truly professional DSLR (K1?) is due in autumn WITHOUT APSC (!)"

because the original content is in Deutsch which is beyond my understanding, I guess the English is translated by Google translate, which may not exactly express it's original meaning.

Below is the original address, hope this is true although the possibility is low.

Good news indeed!

This is very good news for those of us committed to Pentax despite the high new lens prices.

Why would I invest in a K5n (with articulated screen) if the K3 is coming a few months later? Just testing the logic....

It may make sense if the K-5n is less expensive than the K-3.

You are correct.............that could mean the K3 is a giant leap in price....

We'll see if those rumors are true or not, but what they are not is new. The original thread is from March:

What if K5n is indeed a K30? And K3 will replace K5? This sounds logical due to the statement that K5n will be announced in May.

May very well be the case. We need a back side picture of the K30!

I was thinking the K30 could well be the K5N the initial images hit a number of the feature set. It is going to be interesting to see all the specs (and pictures of the back and top)

Well if we saw it as

K5n £899
K3 £1199
K1 £1500+ (+ is if it is FF)

The only thing that has me doubt the K5n is the articulated screen not being on the K30 - or at least not rumoured to be on it. Only because articulated screens whilst useful for everyone in the right situation is probably more a desireable feature for lower-end products. Unless the K5n is actually the K30. Which could make more sense if, nomenclature wise, if the names of the K3 and the K1 are correct.

If the K30 had the articulating screen ( Pentax's first) then I'm pretty sure we would seen it proudly displayed in that French catalog "moniteur articulé" or "pivotement du moniteur" something like that.

Exactly. It possible Pentax might introduce an articulating screen on a higher end camera but I'd have thought that if they had developed they'd put it on the K30 - unless the K30 is going to be really cheap

I am pretty sure there won't be a 24x36 Pentax any time soon...

If a K3 full frame is considerably heavier and larger than a K-5/K-5n, and if you have invested a lot in smallish APS-C lenses. If my K-5 dies I would certainly like to replace it with a body of comparable size for travel and street shooting with the DA limiteds, and if the K3 is more of K20D size, or even bigger, that is not the body I want for a large fraction of my shooting. Not saying that I would not want a full frame body as well.
