M42 to K Adapter

Spoke to a Pentax sales rep who told me that they no longer manufacture the M42 to K Adapter. What a pity. We now have to rely on the second hand market place.

Probably not. It was just discontinued a few months ago, possibly even just last month.

But maybe they stopped to product it and then, only now, it is out of order...

In the US it went through several periods of being out of stock. Earlier this year the price was reduced from $31 to $21. When they ran out they removed the adapter from the website.

It's 56,31 EUR in our shop! Bought it for 30 EUR two years ago.

in the digit-phot webshop, it is at 58.9euros.
The price is free, but the price in the sellers catalogu is 69euros VAT included.

Falk tripped up big time and reported that the Limited's were discontinued around the last Photokina?

Better to take five on this and see if it's another flash in the pan.

The M42 adapter is important to Pentax shooters. This seems doubtful to me. Why spread rumors before any facts.

Because Pentax USA says it has been discontinued. It is no longer listed on the website. Pentax must have decided that 37 years was long enough to provide legacy support to the screw-mount lenses.

Fortunately, we have third-party clone-makers to keep us supplied into the forseeable future, like for as long as demand exists.

If true this gives me a bad feeling about the future of the K-mount and such lenses as the FA Limiteds (see the recent thread on Photozone retesting the FA43 and returning LOWER corner MTF numbers with the K-5 than with K10D and for the FA31 lowering the rating half a star - meaning a redesign might be called for) as FF lenses.

I just got one from China for $6 - works perfectly. I imagine they don't sell many at 5x that price.
