I like the sound of the 'overhauled' AF system.
Look forward to seeing it perform.
A fine rugged design too. This is a more serious 'entry-level'/enthusiast camera.

the wr kit lens bundle only priced at $899
so $50 for a wr 18-55...great value
$900 for a fully weather sealed DSLR with lens.
smart move by Pentax to bring more people to the land of Pentax.

Dpreview says in the specs that is supports, SD, SDHC and SDXC, which if that's true is awesome - because while they're reliatively unaffordable at the moment, they'll get cheaper and they're AWESOME, storing 16MP RAWs in like, I dunno, not much time haha. They're fast (and huge) anyway.

A few other interesting specs from dpreview - mainly as I am comparing to the K-5, since on K30's release, the price difference will be negligible:
K-30 said to have 60fps and 50fps when shot on 720p, whereas the K-5 only has the "normal" frame rates available - I'd be interested in this, personally.
The other thing I care about which it's possible that a lower level camera like this wouldn't include is exposure compensation by 5 stops each way - dpreview says the K-30 yes?! That'd be excellent.

Edit:
My apologies, the K-5 supports SDXC with a firmware update.

It has the K-x/K-r button layout so DOF preview will be a Green Button option in M mode.

I like the new button placement, which gives more room for manoeuvring than the K-5. LV is well out of the way, as it should be. And there is nice room on the back for the thumb.

Of course people always slam me for comments like this, with the line about "you can't comment until you use it yourself". As though each new layout erases every bit of previous ergonomic experience photographers have.

I anticipate the Used Marketplace to be filled with K200D's, K-r's and K-x's after June/July

This looks like my next DSLR. I like this option:

4 x AA with optional battery holder

But I also like the arrangement of the butttons on the back. Being WR is good too. I can't do that with my K-x without using a garbage bag.

It's also more reachable for me price wise.

So what advantages/features does the K-5 still have over the k-30?

I have been looking into purchasing the K-5 but the features of the 30 are quite attractive.

Mainly what I'm concerned with is:
-The ability to use an external mic
-The ability to use AC power

The k-5 has faster frame rate, ISO 80, and some other features that I can't really think of. However, it's not a fair comparison because the K-30 is practically built onto the k-5's framework.

@TAP, the specs at Pentax say that it has an AC option, but it (once again) is sold separately.

Mode lock dial (personal preference)
More configurable user modes
Still higher ISO with ?better performance

I like the idea of the K30 having the pentaprism and revamped AF...
