I would say pretty cool... and hope to see it in high end DA* lens.

Well great. I hope the front has angled indentures so you can pinch it to open. And I hope it doesn't have a really strong spring inside that makes the thing fly out of your hands every time you take it off..
..am I the only one having this problem?

It is truly amazing how folks can and will complain about *anything* in the forum. Truly amazing.

Yes. They will complain about a post where a person expressed a problem they encountered with the item in the topic. They will even complain using sarcasm and say things like "truly amazing."

It'd be fine if they actually did encounter the problem.. especially since the item in the topic doesn't physically exist for consumer purchase...

That said, it shouldn't spring off anything unless you purposefully press it down - there's no point in having the springs in the cap already tensioned/put under pressure since then there'd be nothing to absorb anything. A quick scan over the patent seems like it acts like a bumper than anything else really.

Which is exactly why I expressed that I hope my experience with the item of the topic will be better than with the previous incarnations of the same item. I never said I used that particular item, but my reservations were still relevant to it.
I do want to thank OP for posting this link, though, it is interesting to see that even here the company is working and how much thought goes into something as simple as a lens cap.

Maybe I can afford a new lens cap at the mandated MSRP unilateral pricing where the suggested pricing comes from the Cosa Nostra.

Well since you've opened this thread up to one of the two topics, is the patent for a FF lens cap?

I don't know on the patent but would guess it is for a Ricoh lens. I wonder if anyone at BH or Adorama has been threatened to be knee capped?
