Warranty is a function of the local distribution. that is why it varies market to market. it's funded from local profit. Canada is 2 years on DSLR bodies and lenses, but only 1 on Q system, Accessories and of all things medium format including 645D!!! REally Pentax Canada you can offer 2 years on the crappy 18-55 but not on the 645D, and it's not clear whether 645 lenses only have 1 year since they aren't specified. So i can get a 199 35 2.4 with 2 years but it looks like a $5000 25 for the 645 only gets one. Clueless idiots

And 5-year warranty on DA*, Limiteds, 645 and 67 lenses bought since June 1st, 2011 (one year ago).

Well, for me, there has never been a shot that I was completely 100% satisfied with, even with 645d or Leica M8. It really has not happened yet, and I doubt that it ever will. I do photography in search of that one shot.

So I envy you, and I really don't mean that in my usual smart ass way at all.

I never said I was satisfied with my shots, in fact I can't think of any I am satisfied with. But FF won't make them any better in my case (and if I want to try then i shoot film on 35, 645 or 6x7 - that is how I know it isn't a critiacal thing for my shots - need more ability first - apparently 40 years of practice isn't enough

WE have 2 years in Canada for Pentax
Not different for Nikon , 2 years in Canada , 1 year in the USA

it's the same with all companies in all areas of consumer electronics AFAIK. The first year will have some offset from head office for costs but anything longer is built into the local dealer cost - and given the very low incidence of breakdown on lenses offering a 5 year should be a no-brainer, low cost but high return in consumer confidence.
In canada lens warranties are

Pentax - 2 years
Nikon - 5 years
Tokina - 5 years
Sigma - DC, DG and AF 5 years --- EX and APO 10 years
Tamron - 6 years

Canon I think is 1 year in Canada, so is leica
