Do we know for a fact that the Samsung GX20 is a rebadged K20D?

Maybe, they are simply sure that ISO1600 is very good with noise.
But 3200 is not.

I think that Pentax K20D and Samsung GX20 could have two different image processors.
And we could see two different results. In jpeg and in RAW. It could be interesting. And I think GX20 will be a bit simplier and cheaper.
I'm interested if GX10 would live further at the market as low-end model from Samsung?

In fact we can see 3 cameras from alliance HOYA-PENTAX-SAMSUNG with different picture.
Or maybe 4?
K200D, K20D, GX10 and GX20.

Samsung has made noises that they're going to stop doing that and branch out more on their own. So for the sake of diversity, I really hope not.

mmmmh... ISO 1600 max sensitivity?

Could ISO 3200/6400 be "software" sensitivities..?

"
This is basically the case for all sensitivities above (or below) the sensor's base. The question is how much it can be pushed before noise and artifacts overwhelm the image, and it's basically an arbitrary call made by the camera manufacturers. (And since big numbers sell they tend to error on the high side.)

Dont think so... ISO is still analog side(Variable Gain Amplifier), and even not as much dependant from sensor whos weak signal (duno, just guessing it could be aprox iso5...30) has to be amplified anyways, but more from the preamps/ADC.

A little reference:
Analog Devices: Analog Dialogue: Selecting an Analog Front End for Imaging Applications

Just an example: If k10d uses 22bit adc, and "typical" ccd suplies 0..1 V (stated as absolute maximum! input for those frontends) signal as its "base iso", then 2^22=4194304 and the adc, had to be able to resolve 1/4194304=2.384185791015625e-7=0,238 microvolts, as least significant bit... pretty insane i guess .

Thats why results/noise is so different from cameras who use, for example the same sony sensor.

Question...

If the sensor is the major component of a digital camera, and Pentax is relying on Samsung for their sensor

AND

if Samsung has many times the R & D dollars and financial abilities of Pentax (even with Hoya in the picture) plus the marketing know-how and distribution network...

is it too much of a stretch to believe that Samsung will be able to bury Pentax in new developments and in sales in the not-too-distant future?

Those who are dreaming of Pentax overtaking Canon or Nikon maybe should be thinking of being overtaken by Samsung???

In specs of GX20 we can see only 14.6 Mp and sensor size. No fps. No another information.
What can I see here?
Pentax K20D: Pentax K20D specifications (Rumors - Part II)

LCD size? Maximum shutter? ISO?

ISO is already known 2 weeks ago.
I'd like to see shutter speed 1/6000 or 1/8000.
1/4000 is no good at all.

Pentax started work on the new sensor before they signed their partnership with Samsung, but Samsung is a likely candidate to manufacture the sensor.

The Norwegian distributor listed a 2.7" LCD and ISO 3200 in their leaked tech specs a couple of weeks ago.

I would also like to see a shutter spec of 1/8000s X-sync. 1/250s but it's only because it would look more "pro" as I can't really find a practical use for it...
