To anyone questioning the availability of teleconverters - look at the german catalog - page 13 or so, maybe 14 - the page that lists the lens lineup also has the teleconverters.. 1.4, 1.7, 2x autofocus.. etc.. check it out..

They are the already available manual TCs. In the paranthesis it says:
"nur manuell verwendbar" = Only manually usable

Well, except for the 1.7x AF converter. But good luck finding one, even if Pentax claims they're available.

Those are the old A (and one F) TCs, which I'm pretty certain have not been manufactured for a while. As with most discontinued Pentax lenses, you'll pay an arm and a leg for them on eBay.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, isn't 1.7 the prefered? If so, it makes sense to offer that one in AutoFocus.. Sounds like a sports-shooter's delight combo, 200mm f2.8 with a handy 340mm f4.8

It is available in the last two current pentax catalogs in Japan. I tried to order from some chain electronics shops but they could not get it from Pentax Japan.

The 1.7x TC is not an AF teleconverter, it is an AF assister, if that makes any sense. What you do is hook up a MF lens to it, hook the combo to your AF body, and then when you want to focus you have to manually focus the lens until you're close to correct focus, at which point the TC will adjust its lenses to attain correct focus. So, you do about 98% of the focusing, then the TC puts the icing on the focus cake with the last 2%.

Oh, and good luck finding one for less than $350.

8 vs. 16 bit

Also, who here is able to work in, view and print in 14 bit?
If you don't work in 16-bit, why do you have a DSLR? There's a significant difference. Doesn't the Pentax software give you 16-bit? If not (I have no idea), switch to Linux.

I'm going to wait to see a complete evaluation of the K20D from Ricehigh before I make my decision to purchase one of them.

Rougly translated. That means.

If Ricehigh doesn't like it, or finds problems with it, I will then rush right out and buy one.
