I'm 24 bit at home.. Well, the display is 24bit - the OS is 64 bit - Aperture is 24 bit and the Gimp is 24 bit as well as the printer is 24 bits.. But, I work in whatever the K10D gives me..

Your '24 bit' display is actually 8 bit (8 bits per colour channel x 3 colour channels). 16 bit images are '48-bit' when counted that way. The OS's 'bit depth' is utterly irrelevant (it really only determines the max RAM the OS can handle, 32 Bit OS's top out at 4GB).
