K10 or K200?

K10 or K200? I think a lot of people who want to upgrade are going to be asking that question.

At this point, I'm leaning towards the K10. I don't think that there is enough difference between the 2 to justify paying extra just because the K200 is the newest thing out there when the market may very well be flooded with gently used K10s in the near future. Besides, I really don't need the scene modes, as I hardly, if ever, use them on my DS.

The K20 sounds wonderful, but it's out of my price range.

Anyway, just my 2 cents.

Well since Ben just announced end of February for the K200D it very well may be the K10D for me. I would like to take advantage of the scene modes since my wife and I are new to this world of DSLR however the wait will be too long. We were wanting a camera last month but when I found this site and discovered the possibility of a new model I held out. We have been holdiong long enough.

I'd still take the K10D. The extra wheel alone makes it more usable than any scene mode. Not to put anyone down that uses them, but it's just as easy to learn how to shoot in Av, Tv, or even manual than it is to make sure you are choosing the ideal scene mode. Don't be afraid of learning the K10D. It's not that hard. The K200 really doesn't offer anything that the K10D doesn't, all at a higher price. If you are going to get one, get them before they are gone.

Yeah at $484 right now it is hard to resist. I may just pull the trigger tonight and get it. I really do not want to wait till March and my wife already said she likes the larger camera body. She seems to like the way it feels since she has larger hands.

I am relieved that I don't need to rush out and get this new model. It sounds very good and the IQ seems to be an improvement, but perhaps by the time the K1D or K1000D (which might incorporate all the best of the bunch) I will have worked my way through the ins and outs of the K10D.

Will the K200D have the same 22bit A/D thingy that the K10D has? Think it makes any difference?

For me, coming from an *ist DL, the K10D seems like the logical upgrade. For the price of the K20D I could get the K10D and a serious chunk of glass and the battery grip. For the same price as the K200D I could get a K10D and the battery grip and maybe some mediocre glass.

Go with the good glass. No matter where Pentax goes with their bodies, you'll always have your good glass.

I'm wondering how soon Pentax is going to discontinue the K10--I hope not too soon. Up until today, I was thinking that my next major gear purchase would be the 21 Ltd. I know that there will be used K10s out there for a while to come, but I'm wondering if I should go ahead and get the k10 and then the 21 later. I've got a DS that I figure I could get $200-250 out of, plus $100 in rebate money coming from Pentax, so I could have potentially $300-350 towards the K10 without too much problem. To pick up a gently used K10, I might need to come up with $150-200 more, which isn't that big of a deal.

One reason to go stick with my plan to get the glass is that right now, I don't have anything wider than a 28 and would like something wider to work with.

Decisions, decisions...

I may get a K200D w/ grip for "remote-location" back-up its nice to have AA support when your in the middel of nowhere. you can even get AA solar chargers now.
Though I have 2 K10s and will keep them still and still get a K20D I may still pick up a K200D, if not that than a used K100D Super but I like the sealing of the K200D

K10D. that's a no-brainer. Better camera for less money.

Pentax pricing left me confused...

Pentax states that price of K200D kit is $800 in USA and €800 in Europe.
Currently K10D kit goes for less than €700 in Europe (new with 2 year warranty from reputable dealers!) and for less than $700 in USA (also new from reputable dealers).
