DA 35mm f2.8 Macro limited

In amongst this K200, K20D news, (which I lust over, but I don't think my skill level is yet good enough to upgrade from my k100) people have been mentioning the 35mm macro.

I gather it has quickshift, does it have a focus limiter?
How much does the focus ring move, is the AF as fast as the other DA macros?

I'm thinking that as long as the focus isn't too slow, especially with the larger focus ring, and the relatively fast speed, it would make an excellent roughly 50mm equivalent for general picture taking and also all you need to do is move closer for macros. I find that my sigma 105 is a bit too long for my liking.

Can anyone who's used the lens confirm the AF speed? Is there a estimated price? How is it for general purpose use (ie non macro)

According to the press release of today, this lens will become available in April so we probably won't learn about the details until then.

The SRP floating around in Germany is 400 Euro!
That would be really cool.
But I am not sure if this is correct.

Hmm...
What's the price for 100mm macro? Around 200$ less than this affordable limited...
I believe that for macro, 100mm would be more convinient than 35mm...
And then, there is that Tamron 90mm...
As you could imagine, I am not so enthusiastic about this lens...

Focal length wise it's more of a copy lens. Sort of what a 50mm macro would have been on film. Probably great for copying documents, photos, etc. Maybe less great for shooting bees and the like.

Although, it may also be able to serve double duty as your standard lens option too.

Thanks Ben. These images are really appealing. Rich colour and incredible details. This is a "feel good" lens to grab! Now waiting and waiting ...

400 Euro equivalent to 400 US dollars then? Not too bad for the pricing. Thanks for the info

400 euros sounds like a very affordable option for me...
I'm on my mobile at the moment so can't really inspect samples, but I can see myself selling my 100mm macro for this beaut. If its sharp at 2.8 I'm not sure it would leave my camera very often.

Another thing I've noticed, is this the start of fairer lens prices in Europe and the UK?

I'm also very interested in this lens.
One of my most used lenses is the FA 50 macro together with the 31 limited. Somehow I hoped for a f/2 instead of a f/2,8 (now that would have been very interesting!), but I guess somehow that's impossible to achieve in a macro lens of this focal length. Anyway, if this lens is up to its' specification, I won't hesitate and buy at whatever cost.

Now I see the European price will be €400,- and that sounds ridiculously cheap to me. It's like hitting the jackpot... Hope it is as good as that other hidden Pentax secret: the FA 50 macro... Holding my breath.

For the Spanish speakers: I found some interesting information about the macro:

DSLR Magazine - Pentax DA*, DA Ltd y DA

While they tell nothing new about the other four, they explicitly say that Pentax made copies of the macro limited (while still developing the optical formula) to make some real world images to try to adjust bokeh, color rendition and esthetic harmonics (still trying to figure that one out) to the best achievable standard!!!

AFAIK, this is the first time ever that they did that (but I could be wrong.)

All that for $599,- or €399,-! Where can I pre-order?
