So now the camera's out...the press reaction will be important for public perception of the brand...so let's see how they're doing so far.
NEW YORK TIMES
The NY Times has a positive article about the camera, and also takes time explaining the difference between CCD and CMOS sensors to non-camera-people.

It includes this quote, "
This sensor’s 14.6-megapixel resolution is higher than that of many direct rivals, for sharper shots over all, and at 28.2 ounces, the camera is lighter and smaller."

The pop photo article isn't bad either, with the 100% crops of different ISO settings.
"
Pentax has once again swung for the fences with the K20D, packing a ton of high-caliber features, heaps of megapixels, tons of customization, and a pro-caliber build into a camera that should manage to distinguish itself in a crowded pack of high-end enthusiast/entry-level pro SLRs. We've just begun our full lab test with an early production Pentax K20D and out initial findings show that the Pentax K20D is very class competitive (particularly at ISOs 100-1600) against other cameras in this category including the Canon EOS 40D, Sony Alpha 700, and the Nikon D300."
British Journal of Photography British Journal of Photography - Asian alliance on class-beating digital SLR
"
The continued partnership between Pentax and Samsung has resulted in a new flagship DSLR, boasting a best-in-class resolution."
and
"
The event marked the brand’s ‘rebirth’, according to Hiroshi Onada, general manager of imaging systems for Pentax Europe, who admitted that a lack of communication about its acquisition by Hoya (BJP, 06 June 2007) has led to confusion and torrid speculation about its future. Despite this, Pentax has carved a solid niche, and hopes to achieve 15% of total DSLR sales by the end of 2009."
